Default Loud Clanking Metal Sound When I Accelerate Quickly.

Whenever I put the pedal to the floor in my 1990 Vette I hear a loud noise that mimics popcorn popping in the microwave except it sounds like metal popping not corn. It is very disturbing and certainly not normal. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks

If its a Spun Rod or valve-train damage can you give me an estimate on what it would cost to fix those things?

Some of these C4s seem prone to it. How is your egr system working?
Check it and your timing..basic tune up stuff.

timing chain can do this too, banging against the cover if it is stretched, but it will do in on decell too

Where is the noise coming from?

Under the hood or behind your butt?

rods & mains are around $28.00
timing gasket set $ 9.99 oil pan gasket $27.99 timing cover seal $10.00

valve train can get costly lets say a bent or damaged valve head has to be taken off and why replace 1 head gasket at that point...

I would check all points of a basic tune up first.... spark fuel CEL codes???
