Default canton road race oil pan..am i supposed to paint it?

Am I supposed to paint this thing?

Or do most people let it stay gold in color?

Any issues w/ corrosion if left unpainted?

It is cadmium plated. It is a corrosion inhibitor. It doesn't need to be painted. I suppose you can id you wanted to sand ans prep it. I left mine alone.

Rippie put one on my car in '96 and it still looks like new (granted, I've only got 21K miles on car). No need to paint it

I see that Moroso has a new C3-C4 Pan out now. Both one and 2 piece rear main seal versions.

A "great" Dad says "ask your mother"!!

Painting the pan is for appearances only. The original coating will last longer than a painted bare steel pan.

Ray, you are killing me with pics of your engine. I have seen you post this pic on another thread as well. I am not ashamed to admit I have a serious case of engine envy. It's beautiful. Please don't paint that oil pan ever.

I think it goes better with the engine if its orange. Also, I think black makes it harder to spot oil leaks.

I know what you mean, Chas. It was this same envy brought on by all the other folks here doing their builds that drove me to it. Maybe I'll leave the pan as is then! And thanks for the compliment.

Don't paint it. I see it looking ridiculous in a year from chips and heat if you paint it.

Kubs if you plan to paint my pan I'm not selling it to you
