i sold cars and work at the largest vette store in the world.
Mr. Kelly don't sell cars and a z06 is not a camry.the "my" you mention has just over 300 produced for 04 and will be a collector car( a bit biased).find your self a high mile frc for 12-15k.drive it for a year then step up.you won't loose a dime.i paid 36k for mine a couple of years ago.look whats happened.i have moded and put on 2-300miles,31700 now.not a good ivestment

good luck

I got most of that but you kinda lost me with the Mr Kelly and his camry..... part??

Yellow Z's will not be collectors cars, even the ones with Mod/Red.

I know what I want, I've owned 3 of these, and two of the were seriously modded, one was somewhat famous.

Not looking for a 15K beater.

I think if (if) I bought an 01 I would take it to my tuner for H and C anyway.
Waiting on two answers tomorrow. Plan to have a car by next weekend!

mr. kelly is a euphemism for KBB,
they do not sell cars.the only true guide is the black book.nice cars do not make to the show(auction)very often.so find one and build it yourself.get it right.
i like some others started with a low millage pristine car and modded it.if i had it to do over i would have lowered my sights.i am at the $50k point of no return and would never sell for kbb value.a c5 coupe can be had for 12,000 dollars.just make it the way YOU want.there is allot of help on this forum.i could not have made it with out.
and yes this is my first ls car.i was into 2nd gen f body's(nothing famous) with 455's.when the SD cars hit 30k i went this way.it was time for me to learn about something more than HEI.
we will see on the MY,most special order paint codes bring up demand down the road if not over built.it was 629 MY z06 for 04,last year produced,@3100lbs. the lightest, highest HP for series c5.
get something and come down for CRUISE N THE COAST

that red 01 z06 is a good start, good price ,good car

Gotcha. I agree with most of that. Regardless of whose "book" you use, Kelly, NADA, Blue, Black etc, if a car has not sold in 4 weeks or more, and it's exposed to tons of Corvette guys, then it must be priced too high in the current market. There hasn't been much built in the last 10 years that will be a collector's item. The days of "heater delete", "radio delete" "bench seat","three on the tree" LS6's are gone.
Car's that stickered for $2000 are bringing $100,000. If that was the case with a "rare" Z06, they will be selling for $2.5 million in 35 years???

now you got it,
i had a 70.5 455, 4sd,12 bolt, heater only formula in the mid 80's.i paid $1000.00(1/2 oz. coke).now the car would be 20-40k and will see 100k just like the 69 t/a.i sold my last one ,76 455,4sd.,none SE,blk/blk w/ 60k on the clock.a wholesaler in Orlando gave 12.5 and resold it two weeks later for 16.5.two years later it's worth 30 plus.all these cars are low production, color and option.my problem is i trade allot.over 200 so far with this one the longest kept 2 years in sept.i don't have the space patients or money to keep em.

Picked the car up yesterday and drove it home from Mass. Runs and handles perfect, all original and in near perfect condition.
Apparantly several guys had Snipe bids in and I guess I just got lucky. My fourth C5 Z, first one in Silver!

Thanks to all those who sent me links to sales.

I have an 04 silver/black Z06 with 28K on it. It has exhaust and C6 polished wheels with good tires. Still have the stock wheels to go with it. Other than that it is stock and in excellent condition. Sits in the garage most of the time. If you have any interest PM me and I will get some pictures for you.
