Default Electronic Brake Module

Need help 2002 Z06...Dealership says I need to replace the EBTCM module to fix a ABS and the Service Active Handing Light on the DIC. First question, can I replace the module myself and can I find a better price than $1312. Thanks for the help..Curt 1 FUN Z06

Yes you can do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined. Yes you can find the new part cheaper at GMpartshouse.com vendor on the left side of the screen. You can also get them rebuilt. Do a search here for EBCM and you will get plenty to read. Do you have the code number that was stored? Sometimes you can reset it and it will go away. When I had to replace mine it would not go away anymore and I took it in for service. Glad it was still under warranty. Don

I sent my EBCM out to be rebuilt also. I was concerned that buying a new replacement would not fix the underlying issue and in a few years I was going to need another unit. There are several posts on here with some great information. Check the grounds and disconnect/reconnect the plug on the EBCM first. If that doesn’t work, then send it out for a rebuild. The turn around on mine was quick and install is a piece of cake.

EASY FIX!! Six small torques head screws, two connectors and it's out!! There is not any module to brake fluid interface so your golden there. You can seal up the cavity with Saran wrap while its being repaired and still drive the car!
Granted you will not have any ABS, TC or AH but, it can still be driven if need be!

ABS Fixer does a FINE JOB and it's 100% better than the DELPHI junk paper weight that you have now!

I called GM customer service and got the part under the goodwill policy. They take a case by case approach (car mileage, year, dealer relationship etc) I'm sorry I dont have the gm phone number but i'm sure you can google it. Here is the page that I found and saved me $1600 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...highlight=ebcm If this doesnt work out i'd go absfixer

Good luck!

I got the same deal! My 02 ZO6 was with in the mileage warranty but 12 days out of the three year warranty. I'm my case, they FIRST denied my claim!!!!! Dealer told them that the failure was caused by the customer!!
I kept asking to speak to GM supervisors. When I got one I asked her what did I do that caused the module to fail??????? The dealer service adviser couldn't answer that question to GM (it helps to look the lying bastard right in the eyes and confront him with his BS!

So, instead of cash, they gave me $1600 towards a new GM Car. Its better than nothing. Yep,,I used it. New 06 Z51.

Put up a fight and be the squeaky wheel, you may get the grease!!

Good luck!!!

Thats sucks, I left out an important point, call gm customer service yourself let them know about this known problem with the ecbm's on the c5's , before talking to your dealer.
