There are many types of breathable fabrics available. The big difference in price between the cheap covers (and tarps) and the good covers is due to the breathable fabrics. Never ever cover a car with a non-breathable cover. Condensation build-up under the cover can do lots of damage.

I have the max cover from empire its a 3 layer cover made from Tyvek developed by DuPont.

Default Car covers

The best one I've found is called an 'Evolution' and it's made by Kimberly/Clark. It's really ideal as it breaths so no water or wetness ever lays on the paint for too long. I think I bought it from Mid-America and it had a cable and lock the keeps it from being blown off or having a thief from stealing it. It also is cut and formed to if a corvette and has sewn in elastic all around the bottom so dirt doesn't blow up under the cover. I thought it was the best one for the money.

I've been through 2 Evolution covers, and had them both replaced under warranty. They simply deteriorated in about a year. They would leave little grey fibers in a visable dust all over the car once they started to deteriorate. So much for covering a clean car. I've changed to a different, hopefully "better" cover recently so I can't report on it's lifespan yet.

More top-end covers to consider:

Stormproof by CoverKing
http://www.coverking.com/customcarco...tml#stormproof

WeatherShieldHP or even WeatherShieldHD by CoverCraft
http://covercraft.com/weathershield_hp.htm

The WeatherShieldHP is also sold as Superweave by California Car Cover
http://www.calcarcover.com/how_to_se...spx#superweave

These have excellent reviews. The WeatherShieldHP/Superweave has been noted to be especially good in rain. Assume applies to WeatherShieldHD as well as Stormproof.

Check the website of CALIFORNIA CAR COVER COMPANY. They describe in detail and show images of each fabric cover and it's specific use(s)...

You won't regret the Storm proof!!Got one a little while back,,and MAN did it come in handy this month!!!We had the wettest month in history,,not just for the month of October,,almost 13 inches!! Had rain for around 20 days this month,,and I'm talking some SERIOUS rain days on some of them. It is comforting to see the water bead up and the beads shooting off the car like it's going off a ski jump!!! If it's a real storm,,the beads will actually blow off in a wind gust!! One extra thought,,if it is going to be on for a long time,,may want to get a soft indoor cover under it ,,the storm proof is not lined. A great weather tight cover tough!!

The Autobody Armor has a nice liner. It's not cheap though.
