Glad you were able to get the lift installed. I would have liked to help but working retail around the holidays doesn't leave much weekend time . How much is the garage door company charging you if you don't mind me asking? You have ten foot ceilings correct?

Living in the southwest - especially at this time of the year is great. Happy Holidays to you and Mrs. Patches!
The same to you and yours, Randy! Happy 7th too!

I have posted pics of my C5 on the lift in my previous house which had a couple of inches less clearance. This is a 10-foot ceiling in this garage as well. The lift will not be powered up until later this week so I won't have pics of the cars on and under the lift until maybe this weekend but I'll post then. A 9-foot ceiling is tight but will work if you're willing to sacrifice standing totally upright under the lift and won't be parking anything taller than a Vette under it.

Not a problem. It wasn't bad at all and I did have my previous experience installing it to go by so I knew what I was in for.

The ceiling is 10 feet. The garage door lift is not quite standard since they had to order all new parts except for the door panels themselves. They are also installing my new opener for me while they're at it. It's a Liftmaster 3800 side mount and lift unit with remote keypad, switch and light module. It'll run around $900 for the job. I've seen companies do it for less but they were simpler jobs with a foot or less of additional rise and no other changes. The current opener is going on my other single door which currently has no electric opener.

Looks great but silly question... did you block the entry door to the house?

That's what they call the "Man Door" in these parts. It's an access door to the back yard. It still opens fully but may be partially blocked by the time I move the lift to it's final resting spot and bolt it in (I have casters to move the lift).

I tried to get the builder to reverse the door so it opens to the outside but they refused and it's stucco'ed in place now so I'm leaving as is for now.

I put mine together without help the first time (not Bendpak). Did it much the same way, using a cherry picker. It can be done fairly easily.

Welcome to California where you pay $300,000 for a track house which is a good deal now lol they we're $800,000 and they wont do anything for you.

I had a 4200 sq ft house built in Texas and they would do ANYTHING I wanted. I could have asked them to install a stripper pole in the kitchen and they would have asked what color? Lol

Cool and Thank You for the info. I've got a 9' ceiling in my garage and from the sounds of it, you had 9' 3" of needed space. I've got two Corvettes as well, a '99 and a '07. I've not measured both heights but will. I'm not as much interested in dual storage locations for both on the single lift, rather being able to get under one as needed. In this case, it appears its not an issue other than price. I like the idea of the shorter corner posts too.

Great job, Ed!...been wondering where you've been? This should make you feel even better about your install...this was mine on a 6 degree January day; came pre-assembled...wew just rolled it in, but it had to clear the height of the garage door...it was tight!....and here is the opener I used...Liftmaster 'on wall' type...love it.

I tried to have mine transported assembled but it would not fit inside the moving van for the cross country trip so it had to be disassembled. I have the casters and it would have been nice but, no cigar.

Thanks for the pic of the opener.

Patches, (nice place, nice view, nice garage for the Vette(s), nice weather) sorry to hear you had to move to SoCal. Good luck with the smog, taxes, crime, taxes, drugs, traffic, gangs, taxes and taxes. (don't worry about riots, fires and mudslides...they got Sushi in the Mall)

It took four of us and a case of beer to do mine. As food for thought since you are in earthquake territory. I drilled a hole in the I beam of each post, and ran 3/4 inch bolts through the holes. and let the lift settle on the bolts. There is no way in hell the lift can come down on my second vette. Food for thought. The last earthquake, I saw that the locking pins had moved a little and I was concerned.
