when i got towed i was off sidestreets less than a mile away from major highways
YES it is true for many major highways. It may be different down there in the south but up north many roadways are restricted to who can town on them. You can just imagine how crooked this kind of stuff is. How does a towing company get a gig like that, to be "The Authorized NJTP Towing Company" for instance.
If you breakdown on the NJ Turnpike, you will be towed by an "Authorized NJTP Towing Company" to the nearest exit where YOU THEN can arrange to have YOUR chosen tow guy do the rest of the tow. This goes on in many places, especially large metropolitan areas.

Guaranteed that is what was going on in the video in this thread. That guy had only one thing in mind, get that car out of there however he could... He didn't care about the car...... obviously.

i noticed that too and thought it was funny. how could anyone run a corvette website like that and not even know the difference between a standard coupe and z06.

A magazine editor once told me "Doctors bury their mistakes, we publish ours".

I stand corrected that this is not a C5 Z06.

Well, that's all Monday morning quarterback stuff now. I'll agree, that NOW after the fact if I had my choice to A) Drive it away with 3 wheels or B) Let that jerkoff tow it, I'd have chosen A and attempted the 3 wheel drive.

But in that case I am sure this guy was expecting a normal tow job by someoone who cared.

BTW: I wonder where the C5 owner was during that fiasco. If I were the owner it would have been a great video of my kicking the crap out of the guy when the rear facia was ripped apart and then me probably shooting his butt when he pulled his gun....

Maybe the owner did what someone else said earlier in this thead and told the tow truck drive to "Have at it" and finish the car off.

ALSO, don't ever try to drive your Corvette with only 1 front steering tire. These are not Indy Car chassis, they will settle down on that bad corner and leave you in big trouble...

I use the Ryan Expressway 4-5 times a year in both directions, two of those trips are in the vette - something else new to worry about.

Even more scarry, what street (if any) might he have parked that vette on when he dropped it, the tow job could just be the beginning of that driver's bad luck.

Their only interest is getting the car off the highway (as you can plainly see in that video) Those guys get their kicks out of those type of tows. ESPECIALLY if the guy driving that tow truck was on call and he was called at 2:00am on a Sunday, he ain't caring about anthing but getting that car off the road, to the impund lot and getting back to what he was doing before being called upon........
And Most drivers like that usually do not keep a job because in the end the tow company has to pay the bill

Don't bet on that one. That's how he found that car along the Ryan expressway with the rear facia all torn up.....

He just dumps that car in an impound lot. They're just told to get the car off the highway, "Do what you gotta do"

You New York/North Jersey guys especially should know how this stuff goes... Break down on the NJTP, BQE or the Van Wyck and see what happens, and if the guy damages your car during the tow, go ahead and try to get them to pay for the damages....

Hey guys, please check out my towing company if you ever need a tow around Tampa Bay. I WILL NOT damage your car. The operator in this video has no business towing cars. I understand the need to remove the vehicle from traffic, but if you can not do it properly dont do it.

The real issue to me here is... what brand are those wheels??? By the look of it the outer wheel separated from the spokes. I would like to know the brand to insure I NEVER end of with a set of those! Even if he bumped a curb or something it should have bent the wheel but NOT separate the rim from the spokes!!

Not considering the initial accident damage, the destruction of the trunk bucket guaranteed the death of that car. Adding the rear facia and whatever else he ruined up front from dragging it, added to it's demise.

I think the real dumb *** is the guy that was driving the vette. He spun out and wrecked the whole side of the vette, broke up the right front and rear suspension also and ended up facing the wrong way the I-90 were there isnt much of shoulder at all. If the owner wasnt there good chance he got hualed away by the cops. The main thing is get the car of the road before someone hits it and gets hurts or kills someone. The cops need the road cleared ( the cops use idot when it is a wreck and needs to be moved fast) the car is junk already, the next exit is less than 300 ft away so drag it of the road who cares. The owner has bigger problems if it was a DUI or something like that.
