Yea I just needed something temporary so I grabbed one of my old golf ***** and stuck it on there until I could figure out what I wanted. I think I might mill out a section and put a metal plate with the C5 logo where the 8 is when I get a chance.

I dunno... the eight ball just doesn't have the aerodynamics that the golf ball has. You might find your shifts are a bit slower.

Well Im actually thinking that with the added weight it should smooth the shifts out and maybe speed it up by a few thousandths. I had gotten so used to the golf ball that this feels kinda awkwardly large though and I could knock off shifts pretty darn fast before. Maybe Ill log it to see where Im at.

The first thing I threw on after instaling my highly-shortened C6 Z06 shifter was this:

Then after a few weeks of driving, I went to this one (only as a wine-red version):

I may pop in a slightly smaller ball version, eventually. Choices, choices......

Did you make that clear shifter ball? Where were you able to find it?

My Grandma used to make them from Christmas tree ornaments and some kind of resin...then set me loose on them! Turned my '4 on the tree' 1959 Fiat into a powershifter!!

Matt, you did a great job. It's easy to 'spoil yourself' once you start making these things! I find that my #1 is a nice shape and size, but maybe a bit light. #2, which is offset, was shortened last nite and is soaking in stain, had more beef and actually eased shifting. #3, also offset is soaking in black stain, no pix yet.

The Christmas tree ornaments would make a good mold, now I just need to figure out a good resin to use. Or at least find a place that you can get solid colors or ones without numbers on them as they would be much easier to find the center and drill.
And yes the more weight that seems to be at the top the easier it is to shift, I think I may actually shorten my short throw shifter just to get it to sit a little lower now.

She used to do that over 40 years ago, so I don't know the exact material. I think it was a 2 part deal. She also had colorants so they would be ....uh...different colors. The ornaments were clear, and she would break the glass away after the resin cured. BEFORE it cured, she would insert the floral wire to make the arrangements. I googled shift ***** and found a guy who showed some of the stuff he did on Youtube. He was into scorpions and other bugs as inserts into the molds. If you are going to make more of these, you need a 'receiver' of some kind to hold the sphere securely, like some of the suggestions you got on the other thread. Maybe a stout funnel? How will you shorten your shifter??

Yea Im working on a way to mount the sphere, my uncle said he has something for his mill that is auto centering so I may check that out. Also the guy down the street said I can use his lathe any time I want.
It would probably be easier to just buy the pool ***** that are basically blank if I can find them.
