Nah, my friend is married, she's just a friend. I was just curious where the stereotype comes from. I couldn't care less, i'm sure corvettes get more compliments that not. I just wonder why the ultimate american sports car gets such a weird rap sometimes.....

Ask enough people and you'll get the answer you seek. I'm not in mid-life (69) nor am I gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I drive a 2000 Vette and could not care less what other people think. You shouldn't either.

Who cares what other people think, especially the ladies

I drive mine because I like it, and you would have a hard time finding a better car for the price/performance over a used C5.

How 'bout black with mod red interior.

Have you narrowed down the model; vert, coupe, Z?

I think your lady friend is "WRONG"!!!!
Life is short, do what you want!
If you are chasing this lady friend then you have to choose what your priorities are.......
For me a Corvette wins!

Do you guys ever encounter this stereotype? Would my car be less gay if it sounded like a bumble bee and was made in some south pacific country?
The man makes the car cool. Go for it

Heard the midlife thing when I got my first Harley at 34 even though I had ridden bikes since I was 20 and heard it again when got the vette at 45. I just figure that means I'm solid until 90 now.

...that it pulls a lot of p...ssy ...

I can't argue against the attention it gets, and people just hate to see a young guy in it... I get asked if its mine all the time...

Stereotype?
I'll be 61 in July, I have 17 grandchildren and a Great Grandson is due in June

I'm happily married, attend Baptist church regular, vote and pay my taxes (no cheating with wife or taxes)

Majority of meals are salad w/chicken low fat dressing, very very light drinker, never smoked, currently -0- medications of any type

Almost 43 years of credible service in military...retired reservist

12 years law enforcement... retired

A&P mechanic, BS in Safety, MBA, former membership in MENSA

Full time employment in international business systems management, 100,000+ commercial flying miles per year

The wife bought me my Black 1990 coupe as a surprise

The wife insisted we buy our current car...2000 Bowling Green Coupe

OK which stereotype do I fit?

Drive your car and tell her to take a hike

Hmmm... I have always heard that women that don't like guys who drive Corvettes are Lesbians? Not sure who is right.

Maybe they are confusing "Gay" with "Happy"? ...

If it is mid-life crisis, then I have been having that for the past 40 years of driving Corvettes. If I had to convince myself that driving an SUV or Pickup Truck everyday was "practical", I would be bitter every time I saw a Corvette too!

I think the most common stereo type (as well as with most sports cars) is "midlife crisis"

And lastly, if she is subtly hinting that "I would never date YOU if you buy a COrvette" that is just a selfish woman's way of thinking you will never have enough money to spend on her.

In all cases, ditch the bitch and get the Vette!

Case and Point: One of my EX-GFs said the same crap when I was buying a Porsche. Even at the dealership, she embarrasses me and says I don't know what you need a second car...It' snot like your first one is broke down....I really don't see a need for you to get this....Do you REALLY need this that bad?" I told her to "Would you shut up, I am not buying it for you, I am buying it for me." Her famous last words then were "The girlfriend will always be there, the car won't." I dumped her two months later due to her arrogant, selfish, ANNOYING attitude. Although I did trade the Porsche 2 years later, it surely outlasted that pain in the ***. Oh by the way, I traded it in on a Vette!!!

Now, GO GO GO GO GO
