Agreed, though unless you've got the correct tools I'd be wary about trying to pry one of those pins out (just speaking from personal experience, no 'pro opinion' here). If you want to snip it you could always put a pair of shrouded male / female connectors on there and tape them off. Would allow it to be quickly plugged back together and afford an extra bit of shielding to the wire ends.

Use heat shrink, less messy over time. Tape glue gets gooey after a while.
