[I]Thank You for your service and welcome to the club from CE#1637. I have 168,000 miles on this one now. It was a one owner with 92,000 and has been flawless. Only problem was the column lock.
Welcome to the Forum and good luck with purchase. I was just as excited the day I bought mine. I LOOOVVVEE Mine. Only thing is she has had her inner beast released,... I bought mine with the intention of making her a Track car. Some of you will think it's blasphemy to buy such a pretty car and completely gut her to make her track ready. But the car is a Commemorative Edition which commemorates C5R wins at 24hrs of Lemans. So I decided to get her out there to Commemorate her the way she should be driven.....HARD.
Thanks everyone for the replies. This would be my second Vette. I purchased a 1979 Vette in November 2017 as a resto-mod project and still working on it.
New dash pad installed, sun visors, quartz clock, carpet. Still working on carpet, door locks and power windows.
Put new wheels and tires on it. Had the wrong lug nuts but I have replaced them with the correct ones.
I am not sure of the procedure for buying from a private seller out of state but I will look into that.
Column lock bypass.....Keeps the column lock from locking when you don't want. GM recalls make the problem worse. Installs in panel. It took me about an hour.
Skip Shift eliminator......Keeps transmission from insisting a 1-4 shift, takes about 2 minutes to install, once you lift the car on one side about a foot.

BEFORE and AFTER
I think it's great! I wish I could take my Z to a track, what it's built to do.

First this radio, has Sirius and Bluetooth which you will probably love that upgrade, instead of old unit.
That Z06, is my favorite year, and color, wish you luck in the purchase.
KEEP THE RADIO!
Thanks, I did buy the 2004 CE Z06 yesterday and delivery is next week on a sunny day.
During the test drive shifting the car did feel strange. I haven't driven a stick in 10 years but did not stall the car once.
Not sure what the deal was but it seemed like I wasn't using all six gears.
A 20 minute ride was short. maybe I just need to get behind the wheel for some more time and figure it out.

I feel your confusion. When I started driving the C5's 6 speed Manuals in 2014 to buy one, I was 'confused on where the feel was for the gears and when to shift. My last shift car was in 1992 with my '72 4 speed Vette. When I bought my C5 6 speed, I drove 125 miles home and was very glad to get there. I took me about a month to feel comfortable using the gears and when to shift. Probably a slow learner.

I totally agree on this. Not having the original radio is good, and doesn't hurt the value of the car at all. $275 for a crappy Delco OEM is crazy! I think I sold mine for $50 and was happy about it. Even though it's a single din, it's an upgrade you will like.
