Advance Auto Autocraft AGM battery any good?
Has anybody used this battery in their vette? Looks like a solid performing battery for $150? and is this better then a standard flooded wet cell battery? I am new to the term VRLA AGM battery.

They're more Johnson Controls trash. I had two of them die in my Thunderbird SC before I gave up on them. They do not like sitting for ANY length of time (I mean like two weeks and they're getting flaky).
Check out the Deka Intimidator AGM. Made in the USA and really reasonable price for what you get. I haven't had one of their AGMs, but their conventional batteries have been excellent.

When I purchased my Z06 a few months ago, it had an Autolite Gold battery. The previous two owners had rarely driven the car, before I bought it. The battery went completely dead, about six weeks ago. When it was removed , I noticed the install date was over six years old.
I purchased another Autolite Gold unit.

I have no experience with that battery but you DO want a AGM battery. I've had good luck with Optima's yellow tops but those cost nearly twice as much. Red tops are hit and miss, some love them, some hate them.

I have been running those AGM in 3 of my vehicles for 3 years. The Traverse only gets driven every couple of months but holds its charge just fine. The Vette is on a tender if more than a week.

I have the AutoCraft Platinum AGM Battery. I have had this one in my C5 for about 5 years in SW Florida and it's still going strong. When I am not using my C5 it's on a Battery tender.

Unless I'm missing it, the Gold isn't AGM but the Platinum is. I have an AutoCraft Gold and I assure you it is not AGM. It's been a good battery but I really wanted an AGM. I was in a pinch, and no one around here had AGM, so I went with the Gold. I did make a really nice surround with battery acid absorbent mat.
Every vehicle I own has had AGMs including boat and motorcycles.

I just put a Duralast AGM Platinum in my wife’s rx350. Seems good, l have a Duralast gold in my C5 and it’s been fine.
DIGITAL: I tried to find Deka’s When I needed one and could not find any place that sold it.

chasboy - You can find the private labelled versions as Duracell (Sams), Napa, or Batteries Plus. Some Farm and Fleet stores sell relabelled Dekas, too. Just look for "Mfg by East Penn", most still have that on there.

The red top in my car (installed by the previous owner) has a 2012 sticker on it. I understand the manufacturing was moved to Mexico at some point and a lot of negative reviews followed so I'm hesitant to buy another one.
From what I've read in countless battery threads is that reserve capacity is an important spec. The bigger (78) size batteries fit and seem to make it easier to hit the reserve capacity requirement for these cars (120)
I was looking at the Odyssey batteries but they are extremely expensive for a battery IMO. I recently saw the ACDelco 78PSHR as recommended by a Corvette engineer. I might go that route when I need to.
Also the battery changed from side post (my 2001) to a top post at some point- I think 2003 but make sure to check depending on your car.

I've been happy with the Sam's Club Duracell for the price, on my second in 12 years

Both of my ‘02’s have side posts. I don’t know why they would change to a top post.
I’ve had an Optima Red and Yellow. I wouldn’t waste my $$$ on a red. The yellow I had was great.

2003 and 2004 had top post batteries, the rest had side posts.

The manufacturer seems to vary. I was looking at the MSDSs. Some are East Penn/Deka, some are Exide, some are Johnson Controls. You'd really have to look at it in the store and compare it to pictures from different manufacturers. Next time I'm at Wally World I'll take a look.

haha...I just checked on that Platinum AGM...yeah Id say the price has gone up...just a weeee little bit!
Oh and check out them cheaping out on it too! 640CCA now instead of the 740? Only a 3 yr warranty instead of 5 and only 80 mins reserve instead of 120...and they want an extra $50-$70 for it too?? Yeah Iam gonna run right down and grab me one of these!
I also tried to use that 20% off promo code...that didn't work either.
