Some of you miss this little tidbit? "You can enter just one of the categories of competition and you do so by posting one photo of your C5 ".
A collage is a single image that takes the same space as any other single image. There's nothing saying that the photo can't be edited to show multiple things (it just can't be done professionally). Also, I don't see anybody who has entered more than one category.

Your interpretation varies from mine. Posting multiple images as a photo montage conflicts with the spirit of the instructions and gives an unfair advantage over those who followed the instructions by entering one image. Entries with multiple images, whether they a posted in several separate photos or combined in one montage, will be disqualified.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Oct. 14. Moderators will select 10 finalists from the entries that conform to the instructions on that day.
I'm very sorry for not seeing the part about one photo only. I thought I had read all the rules, but missed it! I have edited my entry, and I ask pardon to the powers that be.

No problem. The moderators will pick finalists based on the entries (as edited) on Oct. 14.
There were montages last year, but I guess that was ok because no one complained? One picture makes this a photography contest not a car contest. I modified all aspects of my car, so one picture cannot tell the whole story. I understand the single image requirement because of the voting format, but anyone can make a collage. I used Power Point, so there is now unfair advantage of fancy software requirement. It seems sefl defeating to diminish creativity because some don't want to make the effort.

Each year, we have users whose entries fail to match the instructions for entering. The moderators point out they are in danger of being disqualified and give them a chance to edit their entry to make sure they are considered when the selection for finalists is made. Sometimes people respond, sometimes they don't. The moderators have always disqualified those whose entries contained multiple images.
If your modifications cannot be comprehensively documented in one photo (and typically that would be the case), they you have the option of accompanying your photo with text that describes the extent of your modifications. I see you have elected to drop out, which is your choice. Should you change your mind, you have until Oct. 14 to edit your post to bring it into compliance so it can be considered.
"For the Unmodified category, minor modifications are permissible"
I have withdrawn my entry here in the modified section, since my mods are definitely minor in comparison to these truly modded beauties.

I agree. I'm not a professional photographer or photo editor. I used a free phone app (that I had never used before, and downloaded just for this) to create my image. How is that unfair in any way. Anybody with a phone can easily do this for free. I had also thought that the single image requirement was to comply with the voting format (as I too have seen collages done in the past). Why would you not want your members to be able to show their cars as best as possible? Sure, you can include a list of mods, but the VAST majority will vote based solely on the image, NOT a list of mods included with it. So, although the rules say that "mods can be for appearance, performance, or both", in reality it's based almost entirely on exterior appearance. I enjoy looking at other member's cars, and seeing all the cool things they've done (inside, outside, and under the hood). I can see those things a lot better in a collage.
Aside from a few minor mods, I have chosen to keep the exterior of my car mostly stock (I like it that way). The car is built for performance, and most of the "bling" is under the hood. Since the exterior is mostly stock, (under the current rules) I cannot reasonably compete with the other cars in this category that have extensive exterior mods. At the same time, with well over $20K in modifications, I do not feel that my car would qualify for the stock category. However, I do not wish to be unsportsmanlike, so I will edit my entry before the deadline.
Especially since this was apparently an issue last year as well, I wish that the rules were written more clearly. I would not have taken the time and effort to create an image that best represents my car if I had known that it was not allowed. I would ask that in future Corvette of the year competitions that the rules be stated more clearly (or even better, changed to allow collages).

This was my thought also. My car would kick the snot out of most of the "highly modified" cars entered here, but because I chose to keep a low profile externally, it's at a distinct disadvantage (and has been for years). I really believe these car of the year contests should be a simple, no category, submit your best picture and let the voting begin.
I posted this before I read all the posts....I withdrew my comment here also. I didn't submit any photo so it doesn't really matter anyway. Keep 'em coming though.

I was kidding with you. I was referring to the flood of entries after your comment about there not being very many. All the rest of the stuff happened later, so I can see where my comment would be interpreted differently. Sorry about that.

We're all good. It wasn't really yours that made me change my words. It was pretty much the 1 picture debate that carried on afterwards. I didn't know if you had the collage thing going on too and thought that's why you withdrew your photo so I had a change of heart too.

I did, I actually got the idea from an entry last year. The moderator was clear that it would not be accepted this year so I pulled it.
