Opinions on nose bra (new C5 owner)..
Hi guys, we're really enjoying our new C5. Bought it from Kerbeck in Atlantic City 3 weeks ago (GREAT buying experience). Its a Commemorative coupe, 6 speed, Z51, both roofs, with a whopping 489 miles so far. Awesome car....we previously owned a '96 CE LT4 convert, which was also a great ride, and have been lurking around over on the C4 side for a couple years. Anyway, to the point of this post: We are driving the C5 down to NW Georgia tomorrow for a long weekend, from CT (about a 1800 mile round trip). I bought a ridiculously expensive bra from Speedlingere, and it looks very well made, etc. We're concerned a bit about road rash and bug damage to the nose, but I read so many horror stories about bras in general on the C4 Forum ( mainly paint scratching, etc from the bra moving around), now having second thoughts. I've waxed the nose a couple times, and its decision time, to put it on or not. Our plan is to ONLY use it for this and any other lengthy runs we make, then remove. So, would welcome any opinions from those who have experience with this. Thanks, great to join this side of the Forum!

You did good getting the Speed Lingerie bra . Ridiculously expensive ... you'll be glad you did and it is worth every penny.
My only recommendations for the care and feeding of the bra, make sure it goes on a clean nose and don't leave it on the car if it gets wet. It will make your paint go :ack
Enjoy your trip to Georgia.

If at all possible, I always run the bra on my car. Even in town, you can pick up a lot of rock chips. I have the GM bra and it does just fine for me. Speed Lingerie is a fine product, just more than I wanted to pay for the front cover. Smart move though getting something to protect the front end.

The GM bra is the best for the money. If money is no object, you got the right bra. I have the GM bra but plan on upgrading to a speed lingerie soon.
If you don't like rock chips then a bra is the only way to go.

Keep it clean
As long as you keep it clean underneath. Just don't use it in the rain or keep it on for extended periods of time. I only use mine for extended highway trips and always wax the area underneath first before putting it on.

The nastiest paint chip I received last year during 13,546 miles of road trips is on the hood above the line that the bra would have covered even if I had worn one.
Road trips have their challenges and dangers. It's just part of the program. Have a great trip, either way you go!

I've got the Speed Lingerie and it is great. A challenge for one person to put on but it has an outstanding fit. I also use it on a course in case I clip a cone. I got caught in a rain storm with it on and had no problems afterwards, either.

This is the 3rd vette that I leave the bra on all the time. I have never had paint issues. I take it off every few months and clean and wax underneath. Mine came from Ecklers and works great.

I bought the 3M clear bra. Looks great in the sig pic. Most people don't even know it's there. But with yours if you have any areas that your worried about tape them before you put it on and check the tape out when you get there. Better destroying tape than the paint. My .02 Have a great trip.

Melting Slicks
I live in the rock infested area called Arizona. A front end bra is MANDATORY if you don't want 1000 rock chips in a year. Everything here is either sand or rocks. There is no such thing as "dirt" here in Arizona.

I run the GM Bra on long trips, and have been quite pleased. I didn't want to put the money into the Speed Lingere, but they sure look nice.
Ditto the remark about removing if it sees any water.
I'd put a fresh coat of wax on the nose and make sure there's no dirt, and I mean none, between the paint and the Bra.
This will not only help keep the nose chip free, but it will keep all of the bugs off the front -- and we all know what kind of havoc bugs do to paint.
Enjoy your trip, you'll love how great the C5 is for long drives.

To Bra or not?
I have the GM Bra which works and fits great. One suggestion is to vacume the inside of it before putting it on, if there is any dirt of any kind it will scratch the paint. Dirt will get in through the air intake cutouts.
