Default Yay... just ordered my Harbor Freight low pro jack!

Tired of driving my car up on blocks and bumming lo pro jacks off buddies, I just ordered my own. I've heard great things about them on this forum and at $129.00 + free shipping it's a great deal.

I went to Sears but the Craftsman (most of my tools) was $200. Only thing is that their phone people took forever trying to get me to buy all this extra crap. Normally I don't bite on this stuff, but I got three magazines all for a year for $5.00 =) Problem is I have to physically cancell the mags or they keep on comming.

Anyway... yay for tools

Let us know what you think of the quality, etc when you have a chance to use it.

I've got one of the Harbor Freight low profile jacks and am pretty happy with it. Light and maneuverable and gets under my lowered Vette.

I've seen the HF and the Griots offerings together. You'd swear they were made by the same foreign supplier; though the Griots has a few extra trim pieces.

Then I noticed this little gem on the Griots web site:
Made for us, to our high quality specifications, in Taiwan.

hmmmm....

Me too! Only bad part is that they ship via Parcel Post, so it took a few weeks to get mine. Worth the wait though. Just don't order one expecting to jack your vette this weekend or even next weekend.

(The link above shows the $89 version. I recommend going with the $139 quick-lift version that I bought. Some forum members have been dissatisfied with the cheaper jack, and even sent them back.)

Sounds like a good deal. A floor jack certainly comes in handy when you work on your own car. I have the Craftsman but only paid $161 on sale. Hope your new floor jack works out.

I was wondering about that jack....that it also says it has a 23" handle?!

What the heck good is a jack with a 2' handle

Here is the link to the $139.00 jack. It's available in Blue, Gold, Red, and Aluminum. The aluminum one is $129.00. I ordered the aluminum one. Free Shipping - but a $5.95 handling fee.

Click here for the $139/$129 Jack

I have one myself and it is pretty good. You get what you pay for though, it isn't the best quality jack around for sure. I just couldn't spend over $500 bucks for a real jack.

didn't know that. They are close to me.... but I do have a HF outlet store about 15 miles from here.

I agree; it's much better to actually see the item in-person; instead of a pic in a catalog.

My Harbor Freight lightweight "racing" jack arrived to day, and I am fairly impressed! The box it arrived in is your typical (embarrassing) oriental-source shiny cardboard. But I never would have expected the jack itself to look so high class. There's even enough blue in it to match my car!

The lifting pad looks much lower than the 3" minimum height they specify (although I didn't measure it), it is cushioned with a rubber insert (although you'll still need to use your hockey pucks), and it is also much lighter than I expected it would be (I figured this "lightweight" term would just be lip service). There is a handle on the side for carrying it and the main handle is a two-piece (threaded) tubular aluminum (knurled at the grip), and the pressure release twist-action can be locked in place by a set screw in the handle barrel (near the jack body).

I am extremely pleased with HF's product. I may be going overboard with praise and find the error of my ways down the road, but for the moment, I am very pleased.

Tom
