Default Battery Tender Question

So I bought a Polaris Ranger a few months ago for the wife and it needed a new battery. So I got an AGM one from Amazon. It came with some directions I haven't really heard of or adhered to ever. Has anyone ever seen this and how accurate are their suggestions? I've taken the tender off the Vette and my mowers because of this and will hook them back up once a month for a few days unless I hear otherwise from some of y'all to the contrary. I'm just curious about this as I've never seen this before. Is this for all batteries these days?

Can’t say that I have ever seen a sticker like that on any battery I have used.

Thanks Jack. 1st I've seen anything like this too. That's why I'm curious if anyone has been doing this lately.

Modern tenders don't give a 24 hours a day/ 7 day a week charge anyway.

Sounds like a good reason to get a different battery to me. Looks like they are making excuses why their batteries will die sooner than everyone else.

AGM has sone things you do need to do.

don’t let them get. Slow 10 volts unless you have a AGM charger. They have a diode in the battery that needs stimulated to charge, regular chargers will not work in these cases.

same with 1,5 Amps AGM capable tender needs to be used.

The rest has not applied to my AGM batteries.

I put mine in at start of storage remove it in the spring. The batteries have lasted about 12 years on average.

i fif get away from acid batteries in collector cars. My Fieto has a metal support that is part of the frame. Acids tot’s these away. You have to weld in a new plate. Mine is like new.

As for the C5 the computer hand harness is under the battery. I have seen and had to replace and repair them there.

When it comes to AGM keep with a name Brand and learn how to use it per mfg information.

I keep a tender on my lawn mowers, Kawasaki mule, both vettes, tractor and truck anytime not driving them, no exception, never a problem.

Most people don't know the difference between a charger and a maintainer. Also, as @hvperv6 mentions, AGM batteries prefer a different charging schedule than lead/acid batteries. I've used Ctek maintainers for years and never had a problem. They are AGM aware. I plug 'em in and forget 'em and my batteries last 5-7 years. In fact, I just replaced the battery in my VW diesel a couple months ago for the first time and it is a 2012 model!!! Would it have lasted longer with a more complicated maintenance regime? Perhaps, but if I get +/- a decade of service out of a battery, I figure I got my money's worth.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm not going to worry about leaving them on the tender then. The ones I have do have an AGM setting so hopefully they'll be okay.

The Battery Tender Brands are also plug and leave them. They will register as a AGM or not is connected.

I also have and Optima Charger and maintainer.

You can also Fool an AGM battery into charging by using a second good battery to let the dead one to take a charge from a conventional charger. It is good for emergencies.

Batt tenders only put charge in when the battery calls for it. Not a constant voltage in or at least not 12volts constantly.

Appreciate that. I'm going to just do what I've done forever and just leave the tenders hooked up.
