Black does look awesome, but highly impractical when you live in the desert(or almost desert). Red IMHO is great but everyone has a red vette.
By the way, I just passed the one month anniversary of picking up my DSOM at the museum and every color looked fantastic going thru the factory!
I thought long and hard about having the Artic White in the desert (the most practical color for my area), but I've had a White, Red and Silver car in the past and I thought what the heck, let's go for it.
DSOM looks kinda Coppery in brilliant daytime and kinda Red in the evening light. The biggest benefit is "it looks wonderful" straight from the significant other. Based on that, I've got the color that's right for me.

Yes silver is also another color that is lower maintenance. It blends into with everything else and does not stand out like red or yellow.
Any red Corvette is very common Corvettes are mostly red so red makes it a common color nothing special about red anymore.

I love my precision red. I think it's the nicest color ever on a Vette. It takes on different colors in different lights. I had a black C-5 and it looked great but I wont subject myself to that again!!

Excerpt from interview with the Designer..His choice:
CAC: (Corvette Action Center) Of all the C6 colors, what's your favorite?
TP: (Tom Peters) That's tough...I think I'd buy the silver with the bright wheels. It looks like a jet fighter. Reminds me of that F/A-22. I like the Cobalt Red and I'm anxious to see a black one all tricked-out, because I've not seen black on a car, yet, but if I were to buy one today; it'd probably be silver, bright wheels and the Z51 suspension.
