Default P51 Mustang with C6

I was offered a ride in a fully restored P51 Mustang this morning, my pilot friend suggested I get a photo of the C6 with the Mustang since they are both red:

Another pilot friend drove my car down the taxiway and got a few more pictures of us as we were about to take off:

What a blast and what a great way to begin the 4th of July holiday!

Extremely ... love the pics of the P51 and your vette is nice. My favorite prop planes of all time are the P51 and P38 Lightening. All three are classic's of American engineering....... BTW how did you enjoy the ride?

Thanks

I was also going to mention that it really reminded me of how brave the WWII pilots were to go up in these planes and get shot at - as I looked around the inside there is nothing but a thin aluminum skin riveted to a frame for protection. I have a new found respect and appreciation for the people of this country that protect our freedom

Thanks, the ride was great. We did a couple of rolls and then a loop - really a lot of fun.

I have a friend that has a P51, and I get a Woodie everytime I hear it fire up. But, talk about a money pit. I think you could fly a twin jet cheaper.

Packard re-engineered and built the Rolls Royce Merlin engine under license in Detroit. And when it was put in the P51 it became best of the prop fighters.

There is something about the sound of those Merlins! I used to work next to Sky Harbor and every once in a while our Test Tech would excuse himself, run outside and there would be a P51 taking off. He recognized the sound of those engines. He had flown P51's in WWII. I learned very quickly to follow him outside when he got that look on his face.

Love the photo, I assume that was at Scottsdale Airpark. The hangars look nicer than my house!

Thanks,
Glenn

Wow, awesome pics of a fantastic plane, thanks for sharing.
A few years ago a group of P51's flew low over my neighborhood in Minneapolis for a special Memorial day commemorative service, I still remember the thunder as they flew almost directly over my house.
The WW II men that flew these planes were heros.

I couldn't stand it. I had to take out that shadow. Copy and past this in your Photobucket:
