Man, that really sucks! I bought an extra rim for the front and one for the back, just because of this kind of thing. Like insurance though, hope I never have to use them.

It would not be a good idea to involve your insurance co., just buy one replacement wheel and call it a day, it's cheaper in the long run.

In Pennsyltucky, we can call the state out on crap roads. They may (in extremely rare cases) help with the cost of replacement. Try your insurance company first, DOT second. You never know.....at least you'll learn something about road maintenance. You don't have to file a claim to call your ins. co, just call your agent and get a professional feel on the situation.

Bent rims happen. Forged rims will cost you a lot, but if that is what you want, go for it. I like the stock look, so I personally would go with a used wheel off someone on these forums. I made the boo-boo of getting the wheel and tire coverage for 300 bucks when I got the car, so I could/would use that in my case.

Good luck. Post pics of the new wheels when you get this done.

The extended tire and wheel warranty DOES cover pothole damage.

I hit a pot hole when I had my 01'. I thought only the front was damaged, but the rear was bent too. I went after the county, since it was a county street and it was not maintained as it should of been. Find out who owns the street, city, county, or state, and go after them. It can be done with a little work and patience. Good luck.

Check with a local Corvette dealer that does a lot of wheel upgrades. They will ususally keep the standard wheels for situations like this. It beats spending new money for a stock wheel when you can get takeoffs for probably half.

In California you can file a claim with the state for failure to properly maintain the highway. I don't know about Kentucky.

Under "What's Not Covered" in the GMPP warranty, it says - "Physical Damage". -- --

I had mine covered under my regular warranty. I (here we go), was showing off to my friend and went over a train track at a rate of speed higher than the posted limit. I had the car for only a few hours. Knew what happened when I drove over the track. My tire lived through the ordeal.

My regular insurance covered it. No issues or problems. However, your rates will be affected. I paid my claim back in order to avoid this.

Lesson learned.

I know your question has been answered but just FYI, there is a warranty that would cover wheels as well as tires, like mentioned above.

The Maximus Auto Group (M.A.G.) company has a Maximium Road Hazard Tire & Wheel Protection plan. I purchased the plan with my C6.

Covers flat tire repairs and the replacement of unrepairable tires and wheels. Coverage also covers labor, mounting, valve stems and a few other things. It's nice to have just in case.

Tell the city / county you want a new rim.

You pay Taxes to keep the roads repaired.

I'd write a letter, send pictures of pothole, and send pictures of rim.

I had same problem but also needed to re-chrome - $300 and 6weeks or buy knock-off for $300 from Discount Tire. The knockoff was made in China just like the original wheel and seemed to be identical. I assume factory wheels go out the front door and the knockoffs go out the back door, if you know what I mean...

So now I have an extra wheel laying around, that needs refinishing.

FYI - it is only $100 and 2days to correct my slightly bent wheel, but the curb rash is why it needed chrome -> they send to Califronia.

oh yeah - get your tire checked too - my runflat started peeling away and unraveled due to the pothole impact.

I about spit my beverage out when reading the title!

Extended warranties won't cover damage to a rim. Do you happen to have any kind of road hazard tire/wheel protection plan?

I heard of other people successfully suing/re-couping from the city.
