Default BOSS BV9555 7" touch screenTFT audio head unit install

A lot of members dont know that there is a great audio forum after all the generation forums MODS feel free to move this there

For most that know I did a lot of power adders on the vette and had wondered about the Factory 6CD "Bose" system. When I put the Z06 butterfly mufflers on it was quiet enough to hear the music while cruising and I had to do something about it. My idea was to kill the corvette tax and have a high end system. Most all the stuff is made in china anyway and im not interested in name brand. This system I installed sounds so GOOD I can hardly believe I wondered about the Bose for as long as I did.

For those that dont know the Premium 6CD Bose system is proprietary that unless you are very audio savvy its hard to make sound good. the 10" subs in the doors dont hardly even have magnets. See my comparison speaker pic of the 6x9 3way coaxials that took their place

Rundown:
BOSS Double DIN BV9555 7" touch screenTFT SDcard, USB, mp3 input, DVD CD+-whatever, back up camera, RCA video out, RCA video and audio in---it will play my iPhone mp3s and mv4 videos on the TFT screen with a year warranty
for more money you can get the unit that does Bluetooth/NAV/XM/HD radio--I didnt want any of that. $220
speakers in peak watts
PhoenixGold R3R 60w 3" 2way door coaxials $20
QPower QP-693 500w 3way 6x9 3way coaxials $30 FRONT DOOR BOTTOM
QPower QP-525 300w 3way 5" 3way coaxials $22 REAR B PANEL
QPower w 12" sub $35----I can still use the cubbie below the sub
Wood and felt misc for sub cab $10
Metra DashKit 95-3304, Peripheral GMCO GM Chime and Data-bus Integration Interface Harness- $90
Power Supply $20
Road Rage 4 channel 1000w amp $100
Road Rage 2 channel 800w amp $90
Misc $50
Total less than $700

Anyway it is a pretty typical install of the 800w amp for the sub and the 1000w amp for the front and rear speakers located behind the passenger seat screwed into 3/4" plywood. I also had replaced the 3" paper speakers in the doors earlier and I powered them with the new head unit.
Pics follow. All in all it was a pretty good install. I did have to modify the DoubleDIN DashKit as the 7" head unit needed an extra 1/8" all around.

Yep that is a roll cage in the last pic

I do plan to put components in the doors soon

Are you sure the heat from your amps will not damage your seats?

I was concerned about the heat, but I "read" in the audio section as long as you keep it from touching you would be okay. the poster was talking about convection currents and heat rising etc....so far so good for now.....they are also mounted on black painted SMC material too

Is that the way that head unit's face is supposed to fit? Looks like the install isn't finished, the way it sticks out like that. Looks like an 'adapter on an adapter' was used to make it fit where it wasn't meant to go.

The screen itself looks nice, though.

Cheers,
Kent

yep thats the way it is.. oversize as it is and the unit does stick out. when it opens to inset the SDmemory or the DVD the entire 1/2" wide portion angles down and out of the way of the face
