Default Factory front license plate mount fell off today...............

I probably shouldn't have put it on the first place, but I really don't want to be hassled about not running a front plate in Maryland, especially since they seem to be cracking down.

At any rate, I don't wish to put the factory mount back on.

Anyone have any ideas?

BTW.........................

So please provide some photographic examples.

Thanks

Top flight Reproductions have great brackets. Both permanent and removable.

Another vote for the Top Flight removable bracket. It's well made and unobtrusive (the bracket, not the plate).

It's very handy to be able to remove the plate for washing, etc. Since I often forget to put it back on I've learned to throw the plate portion in the back of the car when I remove it so if I would get stopped without it I could put it back on right then and there for the officer.

I can also remove it quickly anytime I'm in a no front plate state.

For the past 4 years, this has worked for me. It's not as much "in your face" as are plates mounted on the front facia yet is still obvious enough to keep the police happy (they approved it when I first installed it). BTW, contrary to what some may think, having the plate mounted in this position does not cause the engine to overheat. If you are intersted in copying this setup, search out "DIY Front License Compromise,Pics" 06-23-2008.

This is a glaring example of the same principle behind the current poll question of why the seat quality has not been improved. The entire car gets designed and "whoops" we forgot a place to mount the front plate.

Duh.

Wull, we'll just whip up this here plastic monstrosity that looks too ugly to even comprehend and toss it in with the car. Presto...no problem.

I think this is what happened with the C5 rear end. The whole car got designed well but they ran out of time on the rear....and it got served up butt ugly. But, I'll say this about the C5....they actually designed in a place to mount the front plate.

In all the C6s I've seen over the years most have not had front plates ( this is a front plate state ). In all these years I've never seen one with the factory mount installed. To add insult the front plate mount sticks on with double sided tape. Yes, right, on a car costing what this one does not only is the mount terribly unattractive it sticks on with tape.

I wonder if the C7 will have a place to mount the front plate. My hunch is not.

Never any overheating issues with my LS2 or LS7 engines with the very similar Top Flight Repro bracket location.

It seems like the best designs are still not quite great. jmo. If you want to check out a more stealth look chem, look at the under bumper one from NCM.
