Default Black plastic strip on bumper.

So my wife just came back from the grocery store with the Vette and she accidently hit the curb while pulling in to park. The black plastic strip attached to the front bumper is all scratched to hell. Has anyone ever got that replaced? How much would that cost? I am afraid to ask really but since the car is only 1 month old I may have to do it.

There are a couple factory parts suppliers here on the forum. Look at the icons on the left of the screen. I'm sure it's not cheap. Hopefully she didn't bend the front fascia. Ya, you just can't run up on the curbs with these cars.

Guessing you mean this?

The side pieces (there's a left, a right and a middle piece) are about $20 from one of our Forum vendors, partstaxi.com or gmpartshouse.com. The sides are pretty easy to replace yourself if you are so inclined.

This won't be the last time. If it just has scratches I'd suggest you leave it as is.

I suggest you don't let her drive it again.

For sure won't be the last time. But if u need to replace, they're simple to do. Not very expensive from gmpartshouse.

Seeing that the car's new, I'm gonna assume you're talking about a GS and the part in question is the hard plastic piece attached to the bottom lip of the front bumper, also known as the "splitter".

Parts Taxi sells them for $159........

If it's the black part under the front clip, that WILL get scratched up....normal for that to happen. 100 bucks will buy the entire (3) parts pf it. The center piece is the most expensive and then the left/right sides of it.....(it's in three sections so it's a bit harder to break it).

If your talking about the front (painted) clip then many more buck-a-roos.....

Thanks for all the replies! If I wasn't so computer illiterate I would post a pic of it. I have 2011 GS so it is the black plastic screwed to front fascia not the airdam under the car. I will look it up on partshouse.

As far as not letting her drive it - I bought the manual thinking she wouldn't learn how to drive it. When we were dating 15 years ago I had a manual Corolla and she refused to learn how to drive it. Wouldn't you know she ran out and took a class to learn how to drive the Vette.

Sometimes you have to learn the hard way where to stick your nose and where not to stick it. I saw one the other day with the front bumper sitting directly on the sidewalk. It happens.

I have seen them here for $89.99
Is this your wife's vette?
Why is she taking it to go get groceries?
Why isn't she backing into a parking spot?
........................................ ...................Just Kidding, not a big deal to replace, pretty much an everyday occurrence if you are not paying attention.

I can imagine the front splitters are going to be a popular item for the parts guys.

BACK TO BLACK will clean that right up so it isn't as noticeable...

Look at those as curb feelers...
