Default 2012 Grand Sport MN6 Convertible

I just got home from driving a buddy to our local Chevrolet Dealer to pick up his brand new 2012 MN6 Grand Sport Convertible.....
It's a really nice looking car. I loved the seats (when compared to my 08 C6 seats)
I was however surprsied when I opened the hood. Not sure if this is common knowledge yet but you manual trans guys will notice immediately what surprised me.
Just wanted anyone thinking of a 2012 MN6 Convertible that there has been a slight change under the hood as you will see.... The dealer was surprised also when I said something...
***** EDIT *****
I thought ALL MN6 Grand Sports had Dry Sump Oiling systems. THAT is what I was referring to. Sorry for the confusion...

Not sure what you are refering to. I have a 2012 MN6 GS coupe.
I see his battery in under the hood. Mine is in the trunk. He has no dry sump, the coupe does. Anything I missed?
I like his Navy Blue top.

Only the coupe has the rear-mounted battery, dry sump, and differential cooler. The convertible has never had these items.

Is it a misunderstanding of the facts, or are we missing something else that's changed?

Ok, so why is the engine on the vert different in the GS ? I was under the impression the the transmission choice is what dictated dry sump or not ............

I have a manual '12 GS Convertible too...Convertible manual GS models do not come with the dry sump...only the manual GS Coupes.

First, the Coupes are the only ones with dry sumps, coupes with manuals only. A vert does not come with dry sumps no matter what tranny choice.

It does... but only on the manual GS Coupe! Manual GS Convertibles do not get the dry sump.

Thank you. I learned something new today. Now, does anyone know or have any idea what the logic is/was behind this.

A dry sump is more beneficial on a road course etc. Verts are not allowed on a road course without upgrades in safety, roll bar etc. So GM didn't think the dry sump was needed for the vert.
