Default Warning - Paint Scratch Photo - Will Zaino Remove This

I went to the Bally's Hotel last week to watch a trade show and took my vette. I didn't notice the paint scratch until this morning when I was ready to wash my car.

WTF.

The show was still worth it!

The Ronald McDonald paint combo.

Red and Yellow just don't mix well.

If the yellow paint is on top of the red, you should be able to polish it off. If it's the primer on your car, then it will need a repaint.

I would NOT just get any rubbing compound - some can be pretty abrasive.

3M makes several items for this - one is a swirl mark remover that is light in abrasively. I would start with something with the least abrasively before using anything more harsh.

I would think a buffer with a yellow pad and some meguires 105 would do the trick

I agree with the above comment concerning rubbing compound.

I think I know those girls. May have seen them at the Vegas DJ convention.

It looks like transfer to me. I think the primer underneath the paint is white or gray. It was a tall vehicle--there is yellow midway up the panel.

Zaino won't help you. Maybe SwirlX (?) or a light compound. Heck a clay bar may remove it.

Try something like Goof Off or Mineral Spirits.

Try Zaino PC. The Z5 or Z2 won't do it. If you can feel the marks with you finger nail, they will not go away completely.

Exactly what trade was the show about???

Light compund wax will remove the yellow but if the scratches are catching your fingernails,it's body shop time.

Trade show is about glass, pipes, etc

Some of the wax remove the yellow paint. I'll try some of the recommend products and update. I ran my fingers through... nothing deep so I might be OK and no need to take it to the shop.

If it were mine...

1. Wash area with soap and water... let dry or dry it.

2. Use a soft cloth and safe solvent, ( bug and tar remover or WD40 ), and wash area again.

3. Use detail spray and clay bar on it.

4. Use ScratchX or similar product to remove the rest of the yellow smear and any mild scratches in the clear coat.

5. Apply your favorite sealer / wax.

6. If it's worse than that and you're reading this... take it to a pro.

Good luck!

I'd try this or gasoline before anything more agressive......
