I've used the Battery Tender Plus in the past and they worked well. Bought a couple of CTEK MUS 4.3's and have had no problems with these either. The 4.3 CTEK's show charging stages and tests the batteries. I don't believe you could go wrong with either of these brands really.

Just remember....you want a battery tender; not a battery charger.

I've also had good luck with the Deltran Battery Tender Jr. I have 4 of them and keep a Corvette, 2 motorcycles, and a small tractor plugged in all winter. I've never had an issue in the spring. Everything starts right up and has had good battery life... so far.

Lots of reliable options out there at just about any reputable retailer. Just don't pick one out hanging in the check out lane next to the snickers bars in your local Big Lots store.....

Another Battery Tender Plus user here. I have used it for the last three or so with no problems.

There are as many options as there are opinions and they all will do the job. Battery maintainers have been around for years and keep a charge on a battery that is in a seldom driven vehicle. Not so much a big deal years ago before computers and on-star features that continue to run and put a drain on the battery even after car is shut off. I went for the GM tender that Chevy provides with the "Battery Protection" option that has been available for several years. I like the OEM charger. It is easy to use, just plugs into cig lighter and other end into 110 outlet. It has the Corvette logo on it which looks cool IMO. It cost around $100 at the dealership parts counter. Yes, you can find a cheaper one but I favor OEM.

Take a look at these pics. Can you catch what is common among all of them? What do all these car manufacturers know about battery tenders that they all would pick the same supplier? Could it be reliability, safety, longevity? Or just a coincidence?

I recently found my old Battery Tender Plus shorted out and burned up when I visited my rural property. I use a newer Ctek 3300 at home for the Vette and have been very happy with it. I decided to try a Schumacher SP1297 for the property; it has great ratings and is a fully automatic, 3 amp/6V/12V maintainer.

One thing I really like about it is it automatically powers back up after a power outage, checks battery state of charge, and goes to the appropriate state. This assures maintained batteries even when I don't get to the property for a while. I have not observed the Ctek doing this; you have to choose the appropriate battery type and power it back up after a power outage.

Hopefully not jinxing myself but been using this for the corvette and DD and really liking it:

Cheaper but I've had zero issues or complaints. It charges to full and then floats. I usually just switch them between as needed. Corvette gets the rings and honda gets the alligators.

Black and Decker . So far so good. Hooked it up in November. Circuitry inside shuts it down when the battery is fully charged. The light will turn solid when the battery is fully charged. I tested it by opening the door when the light was solid. The light began blinking again indicating it detected the draw on the battery and began charging. I found it online for $14. Checked reviews on it and people seemed happy with it.

WHERE do you connect the battery tender ????

1) Directly to Battery Pos & Neg
2) To Post Beside the Fuse Box and Engine Bolt for Ground

Battery Tender Plus also automatically goes back to maintaining the battery after a power failure which I experienced a few times living in Florida.
