Default Trying to find my old car vin 1G1YY25WX95100703

Hey Guys! I hit a dead end and figured maybe I would try to see if a fellow forum member owns or knows the owner of the car. I bought the car new than life happened and I had to sell it. If anyone has any suggestions on how to find the owner please let me know. I have ran the carfax and it shows that it was moved to Canada and the last servicing dealer I have contacted but haven’t had any luck with them passing my number on to the current owner. Here is the info!

Year: 2009
color: Red
Vin: 1G1YY25WX95100703
Options: 1LT with Z51 manual car. Had an A&A blower and American racing headers installed prior to selling it.

Thanks in advance!

It is a breach of the owner’s security.
unless it’s some podunk dealer that you have an incredible relationship with, I would not put any faith in them sharing the information.

Yeah I tried offering them a finders fee or brokers fee if they could pass my phone number along to the current owner but no luck. This was the last known service history on it that I could find.

Try the Corvette Club of Newfoundland and Labrador - that’s the last relevant thing I could see on what the pic provided.

Facebook Post

maybe you’ll get lucky and also find your Corvette

Just curious....did you leave something valuable in the car?

I just googled around and this came up. I have no knowledge of this company but they suggest they can locate owner information. It may not work in Canada.. Here is the link: https://www.autodetective.com/
I don't understand why the dealer is unwilling to forward your contact info. They could make it clear to the owner that they are not giving you his info. Doesn't seem like it would take them 10 minutes to do this especially if you are willing to pay a service charge. In Illinois you used to be able to get a list of all owners of a car by the VIN number from the state by doing what was called a title search. I don't know if that is still the case.

It’s because people take security seriously these days. Even passing his info to the new owner might put a bad taste in the new owners mouth.

If you were a business would you risk losing a customer by being a middle man to pass info that most would find strange to your customer from a stranger?
While we think this is harmless and normal car guy stuff, not everyone thinks like us car guys do.

I don't think it's unusual for Corvettes, and classic or exotic cars either. Comes with owning one. I've left my number at shops when I was interested in possibly buying a car before.

Again what “real car guys” think is normal compared to regular Joe’s is different.
Thats where the problem lays. They might lose a customer if they call them and say “hey this guy from the US found a carfax for your car and that we serviced it and he wants to talk to you about buying your car”

To regular people that is shady. To us, it’s normal

I offered the dealer a few grand if he could pass my contact info along and if we put a deal together on the car and still no luck :/ Tried a few different vin tracking websites but luckily its a small town, I may try calling a few local shops and see if anyone knows the car....No luck though so far... If anyone has anymore suggestions I really appreciate it! I didnt leave anything in the car lol it just holds good memories and figured it would be cool to have back my first corvette.

You need to befriend someone at the DMV so they can just look it up that way, or ask a police officer friend.

having very close friends that are officers, not only may they not even have that level of access if not in their state, They might not want to risk their job. Same with DMV employees.
Again you guys gotta realize people can lose their jobs for this. This isn’t the 1980’s anymore. Lol

A few years ago I pulled some strings and got a lady at DMV to pull me all owners of a Silverado I had bought and the owner switched the motor from a V6 to a V8 and lied about it so I contacted the original owner and when he traded it back to a Chevy Dealer it still had the V6. The lady at DMV was constantly looking over her shoulder and told me to never mention this ,of course this has been 6 yrs plus ago and i sold the truck. Good luck to you and it can be done .

Why not try placing an ISO ad in the local paper where you believe the car is? Or like someone else mentioned, finding out if the local corvette club can track down the owner
