Default lifts

tnz
just be careful with the cheap imported lifts. I have heard about a bunch of "issues" with them.

by the way, it is really pretty easy to lay the kwiklift flat. just a couple of minutes

Default ASTM/ALI Lift Certification

A primary reason I'm going either with the Rotary or the BP is that they're both ASTM/ALI Certified. While some may debate the merits of the certification process, it works for me.

The latest standards have just gone into effect. If this means anything to you, look for the gold ASTM/ALI *2006* label (not the 1998) on the lift.

Anyone find a good source for then HD-9?

Thanks,

Sorry to bring this back up but I'm looking at the narrow HD-9 as well and don't understand the above statement. The track of an C6 Z06 is rounded up to 63". The total width of the car is 76 " but track is what you're worried about as far as the ramps/runway goes. Right? So if the distance between columns of the narrow lift is 89", why wouldn't this car fit on this lift?

right, but your numbers are a little off.

The total width of the car is 75.9" not including the mirrors. The width of the 9ST between the columns in 89.75". Is each mirror less than 7"? I think so. Barely.

The front track is 63.5". With 9.5" wheels this puts the front tire span at 54.0"-73.0" (inner-outer). The rear track is 62.5". With 12.0" wheels this puts the rear tire span at 50.0"-74.5". So the overall span required is 50.0"-74.5". The ramps on the 9ST have a span of 37.25"-75.25".

So, a stock Z should fit. You'll have to be VERY careful getting the car in and out of the garage, given the very small clearances. Even if you put aftermarket (wider) wheels on which widen the track, it should be ok to hang off the outside edge a bit since the overall width of the car still fits.

I'd also like to hear from anyone who thinks a 9ST won't fit the vette. I'm strongly considering getting this lift.

Where did you get the 76" measurement? That's wrong according to the factory specs. I haven't actually measured but I find it very difficult to believe the published specs are wrong. According to spec, the widest tire width (the rear) are 74.5". EVEN IF it was 76", it would be fine to hang .75"/2 off each side as long as the overall body width fits, which it does.

Bend pac all the way......bought my HD9 wide version back in june 2006. It wide enough my 57 Nomad frame rails are sitting on the very inside of each support runner, I'm sure it will accomodate C6Z nicely.

I bought form these guys.....$2400 shipped and worth every penny.

http://www.asedeals.com/free_standin...age_lifts.html

Timed it for the same delivery time/day as my composite decking from Lowes. Slipped the lowes guys $50 and they pulled it of the Freight truck and dropped it up at my garage door.

Btw, If you get this lift spring for the oil change tray...well worth it.

Was there ever a resolution to this question?

I too am considering the Bend Pak HD9ST lift as it would be a better fit in my garage, but would like to know the outcome on this before pulling the trigger...

Ping Patches from the C5 side - He installed the HD-9 (wide) version last season.

Given his technical nature, I'm sure he looked at the ST version as well and might have some feedback for you.

I measured between the outer edges of my stock rear sidewalls - not track.

i'm not talking about the track either -- the track is 62.5. however you did make me realize i'm not taking the sidewall into account in my conversion from track to width. so i trust that you are correct.

I purchased a HD-9ST... My Z will not fit on the ramps.... no problem, as it sits underneath my 65.

Is a 8ft ceiling need or a 10ft. I would have the Corvette Z06 on top and the daily driven M3 on the bottom. When I think about it fitting, it looks like the Z roof would hit the top of my subfloor. My distance is about 9 1/2 ft.

^I cant imagine that you would be able to fit the z06 on top of the M3 with an 8 foot ceiling. Both cars by themselves at stock ride height are 8.8 feet tall. add this to the height of the rails themselves (conservative 6 inches) and you're looking at 9'4" tall this leaves you about 8 inches of clearance on an 10 foot ceiling. Also, the distance between the floor and the garage door when it is open is probably 7 to 8 feet, so this would also make it impossible. Unless you have a really deep garage.

Exactly, I don't think it will work. So basically to use this type of lift for storage you must have a ten foot ceiling at a minimum. My garage is deep, you can park two deep. The light and garage door rails would not be my issue, its the 9 1/2 ft that looks to be the issue. I struggle to imagine a ten ft working but it must because lots of folks have their pictures posted
