These numbers are from one of the builders at Wixom. Sorry it's jumbled up a little, I had to copy it off a spread sheet and it won't keep the formating. Hope this helps.

Maybe it's obvious, but I wrote a couple of these numbers down (rocker arm bolt and valve cover bolt), not realizing they are N.m and NOT ft-lbs. Just before I installed the rocker arms, I posted requesting some advice and I happened to mention 30 ft-lbs. And a responder said he used 22 ft-lbs. Then one of the engine builders chimed in saying it was 30 N.m. Any way, just making sure that you realize it is N.m.

This may be a little easier to read, and it has both N-m and ft/in lbs:

The Wixom list says rocker arms 30lb/ft and the david farmer list says 22lb/ft? Which is it?

Nobody on this board has torqued down their own rocker arms? I am reinstalling my rockers next week and just want to double check. Thanks all.

yes I torqued mine when I replaced them with my CHE rockers. Checked the Chevy engine manual page 9-1099, "Valve rocker arms 30 N-m or 22 lb ft."

has anybody been able to verify the differences between david farmer torque list and the above "wixom" list? Some are different. For instance spark plugs - 20 n.m on the above list. On the DF list it's 15 n.m

Not sure what the conversion to n.m.'s are, but the chevy service manual says the spark-plugs are to be torqued to 11 ft-lbs

Default LS7 Connecting Rod Bolt Torque Spec ????

Hello All,

I am rebuilding an LS7 Gen IV Aluminum block and connecting rod bolt torque specs are all over the MAP depending where you look.... Anyone have a good GM # or spec?

I have seen 15ft lbs first pass, with 110 degree final angle pass
I have seen 15ft lbs first pass, with 75 degree final angle pass
And Last 15ft lbs first pass, with 85 degree final angle pass

Which should I pick? I would like to get this right the first time kinda important! Not sure why specs are all over the place.
Thanks for any help and suggestions!

Default Torque spec

Can someone please explain what the + 80 deg (+/- 3 deg) means.

INNER MAIN BEARING CAP
BOLT 20 (+/- 4) + 80 deg (+/- 3 deg)
OUTER MAIN BEARING CAP BOLT 20 (+/- 4) + 51 deg (+/- 3 deg)

Means get as close as you can to that number plus or minus.

Your goal is 80 deg +or-

So 81 deg is ok and/or so is 79 in that case. 81 being +1 and 79 being -1

But DONT go over 83 deg or under 77.

Hope that helps.

I understand tolerances, I just never heard of using an angle torque. I looked it up and figured it out. Thanks for the repsonse.
