ZR1s are still comparatively few in number and who knows the future.:canadaflag

I saw one once at a car show a few years ago and my Friend ZRTHNDR has the other one around here. Seeing many more Z06s.

I will go you one better!! I have never seen one on the street. Nada. Seen plenty of C5 & C6 generation Z06s though. I have even seen Grand Sports thinking they were Z06s at first glance.

The Z06 has got to be lighter which suggests it might be a bit more nimble. Have you tracked both cars?
Well, firstly, if you want to take everything out of the equation except the engine and drive train---it is not a realistic comparision. However, all you have to do is look at the power and torque curve between the two engines (which you can find on a search all over the place) to see the difference. When driven, your seat tells you. Again, the Z06 is a great car but it ain't a ZR1 and never will be. You can mod a car all you want and beat the ZR1. I have gone this way on many cars, and it NEVER works out exactly the way you think it should. Most of the time you will end up wishing you never touched it. Plus you will never get your money out of it. This is one, of many, reasons why the ZR1 is such a good deal. IMHO, you will never be able to push either Z enough (unless you are really into racing) to tell handling and weight differences in favor??? of the Z06:

Anyway, IMHO, what would be the point of trying to make a Z06 into a ZR1? I know GM seems to be trying to do this to a degree, but I really doubt that many people will bite. Two distinct cars and why try to blur the line. The only reason to buy the "Z07" is purely money IMHO---which is a consideration for some people and certainly valid.

Well, it could be that they are not selling as many ZR1's as they had contemplated and they therefore have contracts for parts for them that require they purchase a minimum number - hence the use of those parts on the new C6 versions???

I bought my Z06 over a ZR-1 because the Z06 gets better mileage.

WellI have tons of passes down the qt in my 06 and my 08 Z06 and now quite a few in my Zr1 so its not a mystery to me. I still have not run as high a mph in my Zr1 as my headers tune 490rwhp Z06.
I would imagine 638 hp generates a little more heat than 505.

Do you really want to compare your modified Z06 against a stock ZR1? Do you run the ZR1 with the same tires? You're not telling us something here. Don't worry, sooner or later you'll figure out that ZR1 of yours. Others have.

Default Carbon

I bought the Z06 Carbon after much consideration. The Carbon is essentially a ZR1 with a 427. I just dont think a NA engine like this will be available much longer. All performance cars in the future will be Super or Turbo Charged. Anyway, I would take a C6R over a ZR1 or Z06 and it has the least horse power of the three@ 485hp. (485,505,630) If HP was the only consideration it would be a ZR1.

Perhaps this explains your drastic drop in power:

He said this is common in boosted vettes due to the way the oil is vented. There is a fresh air line that runs from the intake to the oil container(where you fill it, name escapes me). This oil makes it's way via vaccum to the intake and gets on the MAF causing all kinds of funky readings. Lowers octane levels he said and degrades performance then throws a light. He said you wouldn't have this happen unless you ran it hard, which I do. Anyone else?

That sounds like a pretty good reason to me. I would love to drive around Cal. in my ZR1
