It isn't always about what one can afford to do, but may be more about what they actually want to do. JMHO.

You call that snow? It is just a light dusting...

Where he lives the OP would be driving it in nothing worse than that photo. He clearly said that for the rare days where it actually gets pretty deep on the streets he drives an AWD Benz.

It'll see temps as low as -10F. Thanks.
I got an old range rover i'll sale you cheaper than you could buy snow tires for your ZR1

Buy a LandCruiser/Lexus instead as they are 10x more reliable.

A ZR1 in snow/ice...... ha ha

The ZR1 can be driven in some snow. With active handling, traction control, ABS, etc. You will get there in light snowfall as long as you go slow.

Having said that, if there is going to be more than an inch or so of snow, you will run into possibly physically damaging the front splitter. Because if you hit even a small "pile" of snow, you could do some good damage. Remember that on the zr1 it sticks out about four inches. So going over curbs and bumps with build ups of ice can cause damage as your splitter is going to get there first.

So be careful.

Thanks for the straight shooting Scott.

very true. in my case, i want to drive my vettes every day. my opinion is that life is too short to ever drive a "beater".

yep, when it's a foot deep, i have a nice AWD benz that gets around like a champ.

btw, rjwz28, thanks for all of the factual and positive responses.

No problem I get where you're coming from. I personally wouldn't do it on summer tires, ever, but with proper rubber and an attentive driver I see no reason why not.

And I wouldn't even worry about stock sizes, as long as they maintain proper stagger and similar diameters.

This has come up before. Here's one person's experience driving her Corvette in deep snow...

Just because you CAN do something does not mean you SHOULD. Would you use your Rolex watch as a hammer??

Wow, that was completely irrelevant; if you were going to post a stereotypical moron in the snow video you could have picked one of the many that aren't staged where somebody gets sideways and smacks a parked car or gets stuck on a slight incline, instead of some bimbo who obviously is stuck on purpose.

Did you clean the snow off the hood with that shovel?

I was driving home on the DC beltway about 10 or 12 years ago in my 99 FRC when we received a light dusting that made the road surface slick. I tried every trick in the book, but couldn't go faster than about 20 in the right lane. AH was kicking in almost all the time. The vette was slipping and sliding all over the place and I was very light on the throttle. I had about five miles of this condition and it was scary.

I once tried my C6 Z06 in the driveway when it was a bit slick. Forget it.

It's the tires.

If there is snow I have much more fun climbing into my 7000 lb 4WD Suburban. It drives easily thru 18 inches of snow making it a wish for a weekend dumping of the white stuff. The right tool for the right job and a Vette in the snow ain't it. IMHO
I guess you could get some extreme drifting practice driving a ZR1 in the snow if you have the nerve. I took mine out in 36F degrees last week with clean dry streets and the tires broke loose without effort just entering the highway and barely stabbing the throttle. Driving hard at Bondurant was not as scary!

A base C6 or GS, snow is fine with winter tires and some weight in the hatch. A Z06 or ZR1, keep that ho in the garage all winter.

After a winter or two! I went that route ONCE!
