50PSI+ when cold, ~25-30 with oil temp 200*+, even lower at idle when @ 250*.

The rule of thumb is 10PSI for every 1000 RPM.

Per the Owner's Manual, Chevy won't worry at your idle oil pressure.

At idle, 55 when cold, 45-49 when oil temp is running 160*. 40 when oil temp is 180. 26-30 when oil temp is 210+ after a hard run and coolant is 210+.

You didn't happen to include this important info in your post. A low oil pressure warning is important to deal with, but it wouldn't have come on at 28PSI.

From page 3-47 of my 09Z OM:

Oil pressure should be 20-80 PSI. In certain situations such as long, extended idles on hot days, it could read as low as 6 PSI and still be considered normal.
It goes on to indicate if the oil pressure is "in the shaded" area it could mean you are low on oil or that you might have some other problem.

My 06Z would idle about 28-30 psi after a good warmup. Car had 48k with no issues when I sold it last year. The new ZR1 LS9 idles at the same pressure. So from my personal experience, it appears normal to me.

same on my '10 LS9... and the oil pressure is 48-50 psi cruising at 75 mph in 6th gear...

With 10-30 mine ran 28-30 warm at idle. I switched to Amsoil 5-40 high zink and it jumped to ~40.

Been there and done it . Also as dumb as this may sound, make sure the proper oil filter is used. Some Filiters restrict oil flow which causes low pressure as idle. I use GM UPF48R (ZR1)

I watch my oil pressure and gauges a lot... it is hard to put an exact number on the "warm" oil pressure. I was cruising just the other day next to my buddies '08 Z... Mine is a '06.... We came to a stop for a bridge and were chatting... His oil pressure at idle was 28 psi mine was 26 psi... however his oil temp was 201.. mine was 189..... We drove the same route same everything.. his oil temp was higher.. my pressure was lower. You never know exactly from car to car... there is a range and as long as you are in it you are fine....

That is probably due to the higher viscosity.

FYI - AMSOIL's doesn't make a high ZDDP 5w40. The AMSOIL European 5w40 is a good oil for those willing to go against the owner's manual (and AMSOIL's recommendation for the C6 Z06), but this oil complies with European limits and isn't listed by AMSOIL as high ZDDP.

The AMSOIL SAE Synthetic Premium Protection 10w40 (Product Code AMOQT) which has zinc – 1378 ppm, phosphorus 1265 ppm, is listed by AMSOIL as one of their oil's recommended for applications requiring high ZDDP. I used this oil for several seasons in my stock LS6 02 Z06 prior to AMSOIL coming out with a real racing 10w30 which I now use.
