Grand sport did have a targa... which is a Z06 body/suspension/brakes/ect.. with base LS3 motor (the Grand Sport 427 is the exception... it is basically a Z06 with the Vert).

The Grand Sport and the 427 Vert (not GS) had the steel frames from the base car, so ~200# heavier than the Fixed roof only Z06 (aftermarket conversions like Caviggio excepted).

It was a C6 427 Convertible, with steel frame and wide body accoutrements. It was neither a Z06 nor a GS.
It had the Z06 style wide front fenders, not the GS style front fenders, but because it had the steel frame it was not considered a Z06 as it was ~150#+ heavier than a Z06.
The C7 Z06 came in both removable "roof" and convertible models. It's aluminum frame was heavier and stiffer to support the convertible with reasonable frame flex. The C7 Z was designed to be both removable hardtop and convertible from the beginning of the design frame.
