I haven't tried the NT05s, but I will say that the sidewalls are noticeably soft and sometimes a little loose if you're downshifting and changing lanes on the highway.
I drive mine daily with these, i dont base the life on milage, i go by how many months they last. I will say this, the nt05r's lasted about 5-6 months (that is to completely bald mind you), everyday driving and racing on the weekends, sometimes during the week too, mainly highway pulls. Id expect 2-3 months life out of the MT's but if I get more that will be great. I drive roughly 1500-2000 miles a month.
on the nittos, the traction went completely away as soon as it got to the wear bars. that happened 1 night when racing. The later the night went, the worse the traction was. My experience with past m/t dr's is to run them to the chords
Thanks, reading this thread narrows it down to the R888 or these ET street S/S. I don't drive my car much at all but when I do I usually take it out of town. I've been caught in plenty of sporadic west texas thunderstorms and definitely want something that won't put me in the ditch.

If you do spirited corner carving, get the R888s. If you only care about max straight line traction, get the MTs. Neither tire is going to last you all that long, so pick one and try the other the following year if you're unhappy.

I want to turn & have traction for straight line too, though.
these are the best I've used on the street...I don't drive in the rain...but these hook like hell, wear a little faster than the mickey...but for 240 shipped each not bad..and 26" tall so helps with gearing

pics of these mounted on the car please. ive wondered what this size would look like on the car
R888s then. There is no magic bullet once you reach a certain power level. There are compromises. Decide what's most important to you and go for it.
Agreed, there is no magic bullet. My car is a street car, no autocross events or anything, but I want to be ready in case I run into something for a quick run. No problems w/my Invos turning, but 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd with the cold here, are now useless.

These tires are soft side walls. not very great in turns. you can feel the car is more loose in the rear but nothing crazy the great thing about these tires is they need no burnout to hook..you can pull up to a light and go. not saying a burnout wouldn't help i just dust them off if its a planed run in mexico

I've had the opportunity to do some spirit driving on some back roads and these tires simply don't feel safe. They were 28* cold and ~31* warmed up. The car gets unsettled very easily at odd times.
On the other hand, I still hook in 1st gear at 4k RPMs with ~650 rwhp. I may try R888s to see if they'll hold my power level this summer.

I'm very happy about the traction I'm getting the last 3days with the nitto nt05r. Not saying I wouldn't go for a better tire but in February they are better then I hoped
