Default New Ceramic Matrix Gray just dropped off

There's a truck load of new 2018 Corvettes being dropped off at my dealership right now. I was able to pull the cover off 1 of the new Ceramic Matrix Gray Corvettes and snap a few pics. The color has a shade of blue in the sun. It's interesting. This will be a great color to really personalize a car with. We also received car #9, only us crazy Corvette people get excited over early VIN's.

Thanks for the side by sides! It's really blue. I dunno, I'm just not feeling that color.

I agree. With all the excitement over the new paint facility coming on board in late 2018, the first new color we get is basically primer gray. I know the first of the 2018s will not be painted in the new plant and that they are starting with Arctic White once the new paint facility is operational, however I was still hoping for something a little more dynamic. I personally would rather of had a metallic white option vs. a dull white. Since it has a blue tint to it, perhaps a blue interior would be a better match.

I agree. I bet it sells even less than Limerock Green, Sterling Blue, and Black Rose.

I don't understand why they get rid of Great colors like Laguna Blue and replace them with colors that don't sell very well and only last 1-2 years.

Sterling Blue both on the C6 and C7 for example.

It sounds bad but when I look at that color all I see is dirty white.

Chevy sold 5,163 "Light Blue" Corvettes combined for 1978-1979. Just 5% of production.

The side by side by side comparison really shows the difference between the colors.
I have to say if I didn't own an Arctic White the Ceramic Matrix Gray would be my next color choice.

I never understood the '78-'79 light blue either. Two large production years and a paltry number of them built. I certainly see Ceramic Matrix Gray having that same fate. Why they call it gray I don't get when it obviously has a blue cast to it. Another swing and a miss from GM in my opinion.

Laguna Blue was replaced by Admiral Blue, and Admiral Blue is outselling Laguna Blue, so I don't think that is a fair comment.

But otherwise you are right - Carbon Matrix Gray a/k/a light blue primer, will be a one year and done color.
Maybe Corvette needs to follow Jeep's lead - they have 4 different "gray" family colors for the Cherokee, and those 4 plus white are the best sellers.

Personally, I feel bad for the color designers - in every car line, black, silver, medium/dark grey and white are the best sellers - everything else just makes the brochure look nice. For Corvette, it is white, black, Watkins gray, torch red and admiral blue taking up 80% of sales - with the other 5 colors struggling for 20% combined

Not grabbing me for sure. I wish GM would step out of the box with a bold color like some of the Euro stuff....worse case? It sells as many as this one. Best case? It takes Vettes to a new demographic group and results in stronger sales for all colors.

I agree-why not be bold with something? Can't be any worse for sales than the lame colors introduced lately. Not everyone would be interested in purchasing a bright green or orange, but I'm sure they would generate more sales than the recent colors that are perceived as 'blah' by many potential buyers right after they're announced.

That color is neither here nor there and could set all time lows in sales.

Nah. I'd have to pass on this colour. Kind of washed out old blueish something.
