Ok, just got home from a 4 hour drive and noticed the dashboard with this funky pattern. Clearly this cannot be normal. Is it? It's a 2014 and the bumper to bumper expired. Just looking for some help and advice for a new owner. Just bought it today, 2014 C7 Z51 3LT.
Thanks

If they warrantied that, and it's a big "if", it would likely only have been in the first 12 months anyway (fit and finish issues are limited).
It's certainly not normal, but the dash looks a lot shinier than it should to me.... besides being a safety issue (glare) it might be making that texture MUCH more visible than it would be if the dash were a proper matte finish.
Is it possible they "Armor All'd" the dash or something before it got sold? I've seen dealers (and detailers) do some strange things. If so, perhaps scrubbing it with something to remove that sheen will hide much of the texture. Just a thought.

any idea how much that is to replace by GM? I'm sure it's expensive as hell.

I'd imagine enough of these with black interiors have been totalled off that it'd be a lot cheaper to get a salvage piece. But if you want new...
Surprised me that it's "only" $831, but that's not bad. I might not have the exact one, check the stitching color, etc, but hope this is helpful as a rough guide:

I've seen dash board creases before on this forum, mostly framing the airbag area, but this is the worse. I doubt that the dealer will be any help. A few members have swapped out colors. Try posting in the Parts For Sale/Wanted section.

I have the jet black 3LT interior in my early run 2014 and in the North Florida sun I see this time to time. I just look at it as one of the many extra "features" GM included in our cars!

if you search, another poster had his 3LT dash replaced under warranty and there are pictures of the dash out of the car. The guy said his car was in the dealer's shop for a week. Looks like a big tear out job.
My 2015 3LT is doing the same thing, and is still under warranty--I'm still debating with myself on whether to bother--the issue being will the replacement do the same thing. Not sure I'd mess with it, on a car out of warranty.
Oddly with mine, it's very weather dependent. Some days the air bubbles under the leather are huge and other days the tightens up. And because it's a black interior it's not very obvious visually until you start looking at it.

In the bright sun, at just the right angle, I can see this (wrinkle "stripes") on my 2017 Z06 3LZ. Most of the time it is not noticeable, but I know that it is there.
My car is always parked in our garage, and anytime it is outside, I use a reflective sunscreen in the window to protect the dash.
What is the cause of this? Are the stripes actually where the installer put the glue to hold down the leather?
Very strange . . . . .
