Anyone had rim repair from Discount Tire?
Got a nail in my tire, went to Discount Tire and while repairing it, the employee lost grip on a bar and smacked it across the face of the rim, causing damage. They offered to send it off for repair.
It's a black rim. Has anyone had one repaired before? Do they match the black paint pretty well?

Marco, my guess is they will send it to a wheel restoration shop. But, I'm not sure. Might wanna ask 'em.

I'd agree. It could go very well.

Haven't had a black wheel repaired but have had several high polish ones repaired and the there was no problem with the paint match. The one dealership I went to the wheel repair guy came by once per week if they had any business for him. I watched him repair my wheel.

I'm sure they will farm it out to a wheel repair business. I had a wheel off my Hyundai Equus repaired under warranty due to a finish issue last week through the dealer, who sent it to a shop I was familiar with. Looked perfect after the repair. Amazing.

Thanks everyone... yeah, they said they send it off to someone, would take two days turnaround. I daily drive my car and had to go to work so I put the tire back on and told them I would be back.
I have heard good things about rim repair places, just have not had to use one yet.
may take it back over the holidays to get it done when I'm off work.

Ok so they sent it off and I got it back today. The wheel looks horrible. The whole finish has pits in the paint and the paint is very wavy all over. It was pouring rain today and they gave it back bagged up. I told them I'd go home and check it out so I guess I'll head back tomorrow to see what's next.

Yeah I don't think I'll let someone try this again.
Here is a pic of part of the damage that was caused when the guy let the pry bar slip:
Small damage but on a basically new rim, wasn't too happy. Here is what the rim looks like after the 'repair'
There are also spots on every spoke that look like specks of dirt that were in the paint. Just a poor job by whoever they sent this to.
Went back this morning, they looked at it and they are going to order an oem rim from GM.
