ok, my '15 doesn't have the problem (YET)... I just looked at it and am curious why not a simple nut and bolt?
Edit: I just put a simple bolt 2 washers and a nut in mine from stuff I had laying around. Seems to work fine.

To save others some time, the plug needed is a 3/8" od. If you'd like a video on the full problem/fix (I can't believe noone has provided it yet) here ya go:

This is not the Corvette ownership experience we strive for. Our team would like the opportunity to learn more about the gas door on your Stingray and investigate ways we can potentially assist. When you get the chance, please send us an email to socialmedia@gm.com. Be sure to include your Username and Forum name in the subject line, then provide additional details about your experience in the body of the email. We look forward to your contact.

Could be, just seemed very strange to me. No suggestions on any thread to actually help folks, just "Send me your information" As for it being an issue, that's probably why there are a LOT of posts discussing how to jury rig fixes for it.

Very useful information here. I think I will wait until I have a problem with mine before I use the scrivet method. If it's not broke I am not going to try and fix it. If it does go bad I will use the two credit cards and a screwdriver I guess.

Probably a question of not “if” but “when”? You never know, but for me it was a case of an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It’s such an easy fix. You’ll not be happy if it occurs at an inopportune time. Removing the fuel door isn’t that easy or convenient and can lead to scratches or worse if not performed carefully. But to each his own. Just something to consider.

i can't be sure but if enough folks had complained to gm, way-back in 2016, something may have been incorporated, like the c5, for later c7 years + a kit to install for previous years!!
