Default Z06 wheels vs. Z51/Base wheels - all you want to know

Doing some research for my new wheels and thought I would share the difference between the Z06 and Stingray wheels and tires!

vs.

Front wheels:

C7 Base and Z51 front wheel (respectively)
18x8.5 ET 56mm
P245/40ZR18 (93Y) SL Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP
19x8.5 ET 56mm
P245/35ZR19 (89Y) SL Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP

vs.

C7 Z06 front wheel
19x10 ET 43mm Listed weight of 25.7lbs.
285/30ZR19 (87Y) SL Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP

Result:
  • Suspension clearance: Z06 wheel is 7 mm (0.3'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.
  • Fenders clearance: Z06 front wheel will stick out 33 mm (1.3'') farther.
  • Wheelwells clearance: The same.
  • SPEEDOMETER: The same.

________________________________________ ____________________

Rear wheels:

C7 Base and Z51 rear wheel (respectively)
19x10 ET 79mm
P285/35ZR19 (99Y) SL Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP
20x10 ET 79mm
P285/30ZR20 (95Y) SL Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP

vs.

C7 Z06 wheel
20x12 ET 59mm Listed weight of 31.8lbs.
335/25ZR20 (87Y) SL Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP

Result:
  • Suspension clearance: Z06 wheel is 5 mm (0.2'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.
  • Fenders clearance: Z06 wheel will stick out 45 mm (1.8'') farther.
  • Wheelwells clearance: The same.
  • SPEEDOMETER: The same.

Thanks for posting. Looks like there is a copy paste error on the rear wheel base/z51 sizes.

Hey Ben,

Are the weights you listed for wheels alone or with tires. My guess is just wheels.

thx

Hey Ben, few questions.

Does that set-up work on a lowered on stock bolts car or do they rub? Doesn't look like a lot of clearance on those wheels.

Any carpeting have to be cut to fit 325 rears?

The face of the wheel is a matte black with the lip being gloss? Did I get that correct?

Any nicks or scratches?

Do you happen to know the wheel weight of the fronts?

PM me a price I suppose and I'll give it some thought. I wasn't looking at replacing mine, but the PUR RS05 was the wheels I wanted so badly, and regret not getting. The pic of your blue C7 with the gloss black wheels were what made me want them so bad. I'd use these for the street and swap the rears when I go racing.

I sold my rims long ago, 325s clear fine lowered with proper offsets. I can set you up with that whole package if interested. Those rims had matte black diamond centers and gloss black diamond lips, which is an upcharge. You could achieve a similar look with standard colors in matte black/gloss black though!

What offset would that be to make 325's clear?

Pirellis 325 isn't as beefy as most, so I'm not saying you're going to fit a 325 radial on your car there Mr. Horsepower as I'm sure you need more tire. I ran 325 M&H on my C7 narrow body and they were 28" and rubbed in a few spots. I had a customer run the shorter R888 325s and I think he was rubbing too.

Let me know when you wanna do a set of wheels and I'll get you "hooked" up

Well crap. You caught me lol. I was looking to fit a 325 radial on my narrow body indeed. I'm interested in wheels but not looking to get into anything thats too expensive for primarily strip used rims. I was looking at some Forgestar's which are 18x10.5 with a +76 offset since I could get all four corners for leas than $1600.

Would factory C7 Grand Sport Wheels fit over a Carbon Ceramic setup on a C7 GS?
