GM Hydra-Matic 10-speed vs. eight-speed gear ratios
A10-speed has more aggressive first gear ratio than GM’s eight-speed automatic.
Smaller steps between the gears also help the engine maintain the optimal speed for maximum power at almost all speeds.

Since the final overdrive is the same (.64 vs .65) I wonder if they'll be running the same final drive, and hence more 1st gear leverage, or if they'll change final drive, and hence lower highway cruise RPM.
Got to be one or the other!
I've still not personally seen any indication this will wind up in the C7 though, but I could be behind the news. Packaging is an issue for the rear-trans setup.

Will the A10 allow the Corvette meet the EPA mileage requirements and avoid the GGT?
Time will tell.............unless Tadge puts a totally new tranny (aka DCT) in the C8.

Only reason we suffer the A8 is because GM throws it in its trucks. If they can't amortize via multiple platforms a DCT, they won't do it.
WE WANT A DCT!

GM didn't even know about the GGT on the A8 '15s until very late in the game, so no one will know what, if any, effect the A10 has until long after we've seen them - certainly no way to predict in advance. The EPA doesn't pre-test.
