I own both a built up 4th gen camaro daily and c7 z06, both manual and love em both. I think an upgrade to a 6th gen SS may be in order in future as the z06 fits my lt4 quota nicely. My only gripe about the 5th and 6th gen is the visibility. The camaro 6th gen really feels claustrophobic compared to my vette.

I had a camaro before, the visibility does suck. But you get "used to it" if that even makes sense. It's still bad, but you just work around it. If you tint the windows, it becomes worse because even day driving when the sun is supposed to brighten up the interior, it remains dark because of how little all the windows are. Other than that, driving at night and parking sucks.

Good call on the manual though. While i wish the 10 speed was able to fit in the z06, or even the zf 8 speed, i just couldn't find myself getting the auto z. It just sucks lol. Brick wall and overheating, no thanks. I'm sure you can work around it but that's just 2 things less to deal with when owning the car. Thank god GM put a DCT in the C8.

If you get the 6th gen SS, are you getting the auto? I think the 10 speed is available for 18+ SS's? I think that's the way to go. It's a lot better than the 8 speed auto. I didn't experience the brick wall with the 10 speed when i drove one. Plus according to the GM website, the 10 speed is better than the 8 speed lol

Congrats!!

Good to see people who venture outside the corvette world for once instead of never leaving the corvette bubble and thinking only the corvette is the one to be on the road lol. The ZL1 was better engineered than the z06. But the ZR1 is the king of the hill. Until the C8 high performance variants arrive lol.

Did anyone check out the main page of the C8 z06 "renderings"? To me, those don't look like renderings, it looks like the real deal. Not sure how i feel about the z06 emblem placement but the car is looking DAMN GOOD. So much better than the stingray, of course. The widebody was meant for the C8 exterior.

But congrats OP. How amazing is the 10 speed?? lol. Wait you got the 10 speed right? It's so much better than the 8 speed auto.

The 10 speed is the best transmission I ever experienced. Shifts up or down are immediate and crisp. Truly amazing piece of machinery. Hope it stands the test of time.

Just curious, what is your comment about ZL1 being better engineered than the Z06 based on? Personal ownership of both? Forum complaints? YouTube videos? Automotive reviews?

Congrats OP, love the color. Will you be hanging out at Camaro6.com? I was on Camaro5 for years. Mostly good people there.

A bit of everything. Buddy has an 18. I'm on the camaro forums, lots of car reviews mention it, and so does the reviews.

Car is pretty stout. Doesn't seem to suffer overheating like the auto Z's (very minimal if it does happen), and it has a better auto. Yes i know it's not possible to fit the 10 speed auto in the z06, otherwise GM would have probably done it.

The z06 looks better for sure. But i think for someone who is a novice, could take a ZL1 to it's limits and probably can not with the z06. The ZL1 is that much confidence inspiring. If GM made it lighter, it would be faster than the z06. They couldn't do that to their flagship car, the corvette.

If it wasn't for the bad visibility, i'd definitely would own another one.

I would actually consider the ZL1 over a hellcat but right now i'm in the market for a used (or new lease?) hellcat charger. But my dealer told me wait til may-june for some good deals. I can wait.

Yes the 10 speed is a beast. Shame GM put a crappy 8 speed brick wall auto in our amazing cars.

The Charger is for sure the "more practical" of the Hellcats but I already have two "stupid" cars. I drove the RT version as a business rental car last year and really liked it.

For people who have worked on both, what makes the ZL1 easier to work on? Engine, tranny, differential ?

How much hp can the A10 handle ?
