Relative to not participating in the C8, quite honestly, for reasons I suspect you would know, I was totally fine with that.

Finally, I so appreciate your kind words. That was my total motivation, serving the customer. And when I read comments like yours, the sense of satisfaction is very rewarding.

I too turn 60 tomorrow.
Happy B'days to us both and many more to come!

My first brand new car was a 1989 Camaro IrocZ with the 5.7 litre engine. One day I pulled up to a stop light in the right lane and a bright red C4 Corvette pulled up next to me in the left lane. I figured I could give him a race so when the light turned green I took off and was ahead of him. I looked in my side view mirror and he flew past me like I had a go cart engine. I pulled behind him and saw ZR1 on his rear bumper.............I will never forget that.......

GM stock is doing very well lately, you never know!

I didn't think initially that it will be a one year wonder and was planning to get a 2020 ZR1. Boy, am I glad I listened to people telling me 2019 will be my only chance. I, along with many others envisioned GM producing concurrently both the front-mid and rear-mid engine models.

Thank you for your driven enthusiasm for perfection in developing the C7 ZR1 driving dynamics. And of course, Happy Birthday!

Quick question Mr. Mero, I have heard that the A8 transmission in the C7 ZR1 with its computer programming actually shifts gears faster than a Dual Clutch Transmission when the ZR1 is in Drive (D) and you go to wide open throttle. Is that true? Thank you Jim, you are a gentleman and a class act.
Good morning Jimmy

I am humbled by your kind words. I wish I had an actual answer for you relative to the up shift timing between the C7 automatic in the DCT, but I don't. I will say there's nothing like the sound the C7 makes when it snaps off a WOT up shift. It is wicked fast, if the DCT is faster, I can't imagine it's by much.

Thanks, Jim

Whether you’re in D, or you time it right and paddle it yourself in M, the shift speed is the same. And that speed is remarkably fast for a good ol’ fashioned torque converter driven conventional automatic. But it’s juuuust a touch slower than some of the modern DCTs. I’ve driven quite a few. But just comparing to the gold standard of double clutch boxes, which arguably is the Porsche (the PDK)? I’d say the Corvette’s 8L90 is maybe 100ms slower than the latest PDK on the full throttle upshift. And a tenth of a second difference between the mighty PDK and a conventional slushbox that also got used in pickup trucks? That’s pretty amazing.

The downshift speed versus a DCT? Well there’s really no comparison there.

Exactly!
