PPF and ceramic coating are your friends. Make sure you have the wheels ceramic coated, especially if you have the Z51 option. I also use a small pressure washer on mine most of the time.
Black is not bad to maintain. PPF the front and rocker panels to protect it. I would recommend that no matter what color. The wheel dust is over blown. Just wipe it off with a micro towel every once in a while or change to ceramic pads. Use a ceramic wash product and coat it with a DIY ceramic coating every 6 months or so. If you’re not driving in bad weather you just need to use the California duster or a micro towel to wipe off the dust.
You will love your black Vette. Be sure you break it in right before you drive it like you stole it. 😂
I had the same concerns, but ceramic coating is the answer. I also have the 20 spoke gloss black wheels and ceramic coating them made a huge difference when cleaning them.
Got to Love the black that is why we pick it.
As stated the ceramic coating makes life easier and I did PPF as well.
I try not to drive it in the rain ( but some do and that is okay) I drive mine a few times during the week during the summer so I am not washing that much.
I also use Adams waterless wash to maintain that smooth black shine.
Delivery Day December 22 Interior Winter Cover up PPF and ceramic coat. The wheels. Window tint. Time to roll . Loving the all black look baby
Are the side skirts and splitter carbon flash or visible carbon fiber on this? It almost looks like the splitter and skirts are different colors. Trying to decide how to order the splitter for my black c8.
The splitter is carbon flash from ACS . There are no side skins on the car. Been going back and forth on the side skirt issue just concerned that they will just blend in with the car.
i did PPF the car with the track pack so the sides are covered.
Z 51 carbon flash wing is next once I find one on the c 8 parts where the shipping is no so expensive. May have to just do an EOS Z51 spoiler.

I can't tell from your pic, but is your 5VM splitter Carbon Flash or Visible Carbon Fiber? I've been looking through threads trying to decide what looks best with a black car.

Not that you said anything specific about using the pressure washer on the wheels, but there is a TSB for low speed brake squeal that GM blames on owners using a pressure washer on the wheels (and consequently the brakes). There is some sort of lubricant on the edges of the pads that GM claims is blasted away by pressure washing.
Maybe everyone is already aware of the TSB. Sorry if this is redundant.

Any Black owners wish they could have gotten black painted exterior accents?
Hey Guys,
I have always owned black cars including an old C5 convertible, and thinking about buying a C8. I love the body colored painted boomerang and accents on the HTC and for me that would be a must have if I bought a different color besides black. I think it just makes the C8s look a little more exotic. That being said, I have not seen a black HTC, but I know body colored accents is not even an option with Black.
Question: Is there any b that would have purchased the $1k foe body colored exterior accents with Black, instead of carbon-flash that they come with? I am sure that would be pretty wasteful for most, but I have not seen it and wondered if anyone noticed or even cares.

It may be model dependent, but I know when building an Eray, body colored trim is a (free) option, and is available on black. On other models I think it had a cost, and I can't remember if you could option a black car with body colored or not but I believe it was an up-charge.
I went body-colored, and on a black Eray. Now my dilemma is that I'd like a 5vm splitter, and pretty much everywhere that sells them only does visible carbon fiber or carbon flash, so the splitter wouldn't match unless I have it painted. Going with carbon flash or visible carbon fiber would mean it doesn't match the factory body-colored side skirts, so not sure what to do. Only bringing this up as I hadn't thought about aero options much because I knew much of it was on constraint anyway, now that I'm thinking more, I'm questioning if I should have done carbon flash accents on black...

I’m in full agreement with your tastes and dilemma. To my plebeian eyes, carbon flash looks like black bodywork that has been driven on a dusty road after a dewey morning. Im currently inclined to buy overseas sourced aero bits for my black ERay and rattle can paint them myself if necessary.
You will have to bring anything you purchase for the exterior to a body shop and have them painted black unless you have the equipment and expertise to paint it yourself.
I purchased a used black 21' with a 5vm splitter and skirts and a high wing. All the aero bits, wheels and other body trim is carbon flash. I think the car is beautiful. That being said, I have still have often thought I would prefer if everything was just black.
