Anyone who thinks they “renamed blade silver” needs to get their eyes checked and has no understanding of automotive paint.

It has quite a bit of blue in it, it seems. Interesting because so does CMG, at least under direct sunlight.

Please share your infinite paint wisdom based on that pic....I'm pretty sure its something along the lines of a fine wine Sommelier: "Deep silver base with hints of blue rose metallic mixed subtlety with shadows of purlescent oyster *** topped by a fine glaze of shimmering twinkle pixie dust which is vastly different than the now vintage and obsolete Blaze silver."

Riiight...

The paint has totally different pearl/flake and has way more flop than blade silver. The transition form highlights to low lights is more drastic and the range is wider.

There’s definitely gold in there too. The warm (gold) and cool (blue) tones definitely give this color a lot subtle complexity and range. With all the lines on the C8, should look good on the entire car. Was hoping for a slightly darker color but can appreciate what they did with this.

The GM render made it seem like it was going to be a darker gunmetal color like the C8R silver. This color is just ....Meh.....
I agree. I was hoping for something with more charcoal color in it. Looks like Blade Silver with more blue in it. Now I have to find a new color for my 2021 HTC.

I have an Atomic Silver Lexus with the red interior - looks awesome. But I would like something a little darker for my C8 HTC.

I see the blue in it. Looks to have more gold than Blade Silver. SF may be close to the Moonstone Metallic (special order) I have on my BMW. Still love the compliments I get on my Black Rose C7, but would not get that on a C8 if it was offered.

I forgot to mention Lotus, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mercedes, and honorable mention (11 colors) Ford.

On topic, thanks for sharing jag, you’re a real asset to the forum as a lliason between CF and GM. I’m having a hard time seeing the difference in silvers.

Now just get rid of CMG.. get a real grey (Watkins Glen/Shark etc).... Get a better Yellow(Millennium).... Or just offer 2 or 3 colors from previous generations every year model year to keep it fresh and interesting for previous buyers.

Here are the paint formulas side by side so you can see the difference in the toners used to create the color. You can see the gold and blue in the Flare formula.

This. Definitely this. I tried hard to love Shadow Gray, but the minute I saw it in the daylight on the road I was done. They’ve now tossed some extra blue hue in all the grays, CMG, Shadow, and the color formerly known as Blade Silver.

The reason I switched from CMG to RB was too much blue in CMG. If im gonna go blue, I might as well go all the way. It was silly how blue it could come off in broad daylight. If it had none of the blue and was a few shades darker it would be such a cool gray color.

Looks a lot like the C7's sterling blue.

I loved my Sterling Blue C7 and there is a little more blue in the new blade silver, but it also looks like the bigger change is the extra clear to add gloss that the old blade silver doesn’t have. In fact blade silver looks like it was wiped with a Brillo pad compared to the new blade silver.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for sharing the photos. Definitely happy that I made the cut for a 2020 Blade Silver HTC to be built in a few weeks. If by some chance my order doesn't get filled, I definitely would NOT want this new Silver Flare. From the posts over the last couple of months, I was hoping for a darker color silver/gray, but this does look like the C7 Sterling Blue at some angles.

Thanks,

Steve
