Depreciation after first year
I was thinking about selling my 23 so I did the Kelly Blue Book instant value on line. I'm not going to say I was shocked but the high value they placed on my car was $ 13,000 less than MSRP, the car is 13 months old, It seems to me that a car that you waited for and was selling above MSRP would be holding its value a little better. I'm just curious, any one out there with similar thoughts have the same experience?

I'm one of those who buys my Vettes to drive. I never give any consideration to what it's worth until it' time to trade or sell.... just a car. Cars depreciate....

My 1LT has held pretty well. My car's MSRP was $70,265 and KBB value is $65,014 (middle price not highest which is $67,560) Losing only 7.5% value is pretty solid for 17,000 miles and KBB cant factor in the perf exhaust which adds value.

A year ago, they were holding their values very well. I bought mine used in December and mine probably devalued about $5,000 in that short period of time. Now that the market is flooded with them, kiss the holding values good bye. It's pretty easy to find a new one at $7k below MSRP.

2023 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
When they are selling brand new 2024s for ~$10k off MSRP, the value of a used one went directly south
My 2023 loaded 2LT Z51 was almost $87k (MSRP) and the dealer I bought it from just sent me an email offering me a whopping $69,253 for it. They can ^&#*$@

with new cars below sticker - thats a better deal than a 2 year old car with 15k+ miles for more? I suspect there will be a market adjustment from KBB for whoever buys the car.

After reading about the R232's depreciation--this seems like quibbling.

however, various other cars have it much worse than the vette does, and the benz is a pretty good example. thats a painful hit to take, depending on one's finances.

Just looked up the value of my 21 HTC on KBB. Private party value is only $1000 less than what I paid for it new. I was offered $30K more than that by Carvanna the day I got the VIN. Regardless, the only value it has to me is my enjoyment. When/if that's gone, I'll get something else that fills that void. Cars are toys, NOT investments.

What was your orignal MSRP and trim, z51 or magride? I am an auto dealer, 3lt and 2lt take larger hits since the entry price is higher. The millionaires that wanted stingrays are fighting over Erays and Z06's now.

Probably depends on the dealer and their history with Corvettes. I was offered exactly what I paid for mine and I've only had it for 8 months.
In my case, they had a buyer in the showroom and called me cold.
Used trade values have dropped, but the sale prices still require too much negotiating... depending on where you are.

Fools game buying a car predicated on future depreciation considerations.
Buy it if it floats your boat and you can swing the bat.

When you're spending 160k MSRP (before options) and in 6 months the value is 130k--that's a sobering experience.

I just looked at KBB and it valued by 23 at 12000 miles at 66-70k for trade in. My MSRP was 80k for a 2LT, Z51, GT2 seats, stealth interior, couple other extras. I also have about 14-15k in aftermarket mods. So i'm in like almost 100k after tax. I'd lose 30k on this LOL. Im never selling my car. I'll tell you guys, the 1LT with no options hold their value the most because they didnt spend much. The 2LTs and 3LTs lose so much.

Up until 6 months ago resale values for all cars and truck were very high compared to MSRP. As an example, last year my insurance company told me they adjusted the replacement value on my 2022 C8 increasing it by $10,000 which was higher than I paid for it new! Now replacement value is significantly lower than MSRP. And as many pointed out a lot of dealers are discounting new cars driving down the resale value of used cars. That trend will only accelerate.
