GT500 vs. C8 Z06
Just imagine the Z06 has the base aero with the right gearing and some weight loss! It will be so freaking fast

I mean, pulling even on a GT500 with 100 less horsepower is pretty impressive for a naturally aspirated car. I think that is a great showing for the Z06. Its only that pesky 5th gear where the GT500 and C7 ZR1 gain any ground. Especially once you consider a highway roll is the absolute worst way to showcase this car. A dig race would be far more telling where it would at least show the massive amount of mechanical grip it has down low thanks to the mid-engine and aggressive low gears.

Agreed. Highway roll was setting the table for the Mustang and it lost pretty much all of the runs. From a dig would've been a slaughter as evidenced by Speed Phenom's latest video where he shows the half mile runs against the GT500. The Z06 was ahead but the Mustang was trapping higher so it would've been gaining at the top end. I want StreetSpeed to run that thing down the 1/4 mile to see if it really is producing power well above the 670 crank cars we've seen struggle to trap over 130. He might actually be in excess of 700 crank from what this shows.

Surprised people aren't up in arms about the street racing.
That said my thoughts on the video.

- That wind noise was obnoxious. Should roll the window up when roll racing anyway...
- Passengers ruin roll races. A passenger can easily be worth half a car to a car in a race. I know they switched off on having one, but it would've been better either having both passengers or none.
- If you're gonna roll race do it by street rules 50-150 or 60-160. Maybe it's different elsewhere, but that's how we do it here. Letting off right when you put a fender ahead or you switch into a high gear is lame!

I think you are misinformed. The car is rated at 670 crank from the factory so this one with high flow cats and straight piped exhaust is likely right there. Fabspeed measured +26whp from their exhaust modifications so right around 700 crank is certainly in the realm of the possible. GT500 is 750 crank and the Z06 walked away in 4 out of 6 runs.

I have no problems with that. However you can clearly see a lot of other cars on the highway which is a no-no for me. Secondly once I seen it was Streetspeed, after the first race I shut it off. They should catch that **** and impound his car and lock him up.

C8 has shown the ability to adjust fuel trims to a variety of airflow modifications. Owners that throw intakes, headers, sport cats and exhaust at their cars get repeated, reliable (albeit modest) power gains of 25-30whp. No reason to assume the Z06 can't do the same. I'll be driving this very car in the next few days. I have a finely calibrated butt dyno that can definitely sense 670 vs 700 horsepowers.

Not surprised, the Mustang has needed around 100hp more than the Corvette to hang given it’s heavier weight and worse aerodynamics since the C5 days.

Not sure why anyone would be up in arms about that?
Bright sunny day so no visibility issues. Nothing they were doing required any driver skill at all. Nothing they were doing was remotely fast for more than a second or two. When it came to the exit ramps it appears they were more than completely composed. Just wanted to show how one cars pulls against the other and it looked like mission accomplished. Pretty even.

The Mustangs always underperform for their stated power. They are crude tanks, and their engines are somehow sluggish despite being DOHC. We just rented a Mustang GT... supposed to have 460HP and couldn't get out of its own way. Lots of noise and rumbling but no result. Even had a 10spd transmission. Total clunker from A to Z. Had not driven one of the more recent Mustangs. Total disappointment.

My bad, I thought you were talking about the stock Z06 having 700 crank hp based on his controversial 'dyno results' of 640 whp. It is possible, not likely, that with hi-flow cats and no mufflers he got 700 crank hp. I don't know how long before he gets a CEL and other side effects, though. With mid-engine, aggressive gearing, DCT, aero, hi-flow cats, no mufflers and tire advantages he still lost to the ZR1. Far from being misinformed, maybe confused by your post.
