Congrats on your new Z! I drive 100% in manual mode and use one of the following:

MyMode set with the following:
Engine Sound: Sport
Steering: Sport
Suspension: Tour
Brake feel: Sport

ZMode set the same except for the following:
Engine sound: Track
Engine/Shift: Track

Most of my time is spent in MyMode, but I'll switch to ZMode if I really want to hear it all the time. Again, since I'm 100% in manual shift mode it doesn't really matter, but I keep ZMode set to Track shifting for when I want to do any max accel/draggy runs to get numbers (which I haven't bothered with in 3500 miles ). For Track events, I reset ZMode to Track for everything with PTM in Sport or Race1, so I can use the double press of the Z button to get to the exact Track setting I want.

So PTI but the manual really doesnt discern the difference between Race 1 and Race 2 in PTM mode and that added green gear incon (Competition Mode??). The manual is slightly vague in this regard or maybe Im just old and glaze over too fast but what are the tangible differences between all 3 if you or anyone can share from experience.

The green gear is performance shift mode on the transmission, and will activate if your on it hard even in Tour mode.
Here's some info from a really good post on a Camaro forum about PTM (I've edited it slightly to match the C8 PTM modes in the manual):
EDIT: Just noticed this actually links back to a CorvetteForum thread on C7 PTM, but still worthwhile.
WET: This mode is intended for any driver who is on a wet track. The track should be wet enough to be glossy, not just damp. A damp or drying track will require the driver to decide between WET and DRY modes to get the best performance. Standing water is not recommended as hydroplaning is possible and no TCS system can accurately control a tire that is hydroplaning. The slip targets are very low, lower than in standard TCS. The MR (MagRide) is in tour mode to maximize mechanical grip since the lower cornering forces don’t require the extra control offered in Sport or Track. ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is on and uses the normal calibration, not the competitive calibration.

DRY: This mode is for a novice driver on any track or an experienced driver learning a brand new track. Slip targets here are very similar to normal TCS but will feel very different due to the entry prediction. MR is in Sport to compliment the usage we expect in this mode. ESC is on but uses the competitive calibration.

SPORT: This mode is for any driver who is ready to run very competitive lap times while still having stability control on in the background. Slip targets are higher here than in normal TCS. MR is in track mode and ESC is on using the competitive calibration.

RACE 1: This mode uses the exact same traction control settings as SPORT but turns off ESC completely (not . This mode is designed as a way to turn off ESC while maintaining a fairly stable TCS calibration. After 10 to 15 consecutive laps it is likely that your fastest times will be achieved in RACE 1 rather than RACE 2. Slip targets here are the same as SPORT. MR is still in track mode and ESC is turned OFF.

RACE 2: This one is pretty self-explanatory, it’s as fast as we know how to make the car go. This mode is for a well prepared car on relatively new tires with an advanced driver that is completely familiar with the track. The track should be somewhat warm and the tires should be up to temperature. Slip targets are 100% optimized for forward acceleration, any small variances in the track or tires can result in momentary overslip that will have to be managed by the driver.

Personally, I would never go beyond Sport for street use. Also, be aware, I'm not positive the MR calibrations mentioned above really match the C8 Z06 as when setting ZMode on the Z06 to get PTM to turn on, the suspension (MagRide) must be in Track. I'm also not 100% sure that ESC is fully turned off in Race 1.

You're going to absolutely love it once you're past 500! The car is an absolute blast and loves to rev and be driven hard. Also, definitely take advantage of the $1000 discounted Ron Fellows driving school, absolutely worth it!

What is the best guess on the tq increase after 500? The car doesnt feel anemic but it reminds me of my current 2020 R8 where I have to wring it out to get some action (when I did go over the manual suggested limit LOL)

I honestly didn't notice much of a difference before/after 500, but then I kept it under 6500rpm for the full 500 miles and I drive 100% in manual mode. I believe a lot of the torque reduction during break-in is for torque cut on shifts, not something you're going to notice much in regular driving. In manual mode, it definitely has noticeably less low end torque than a Stingray below 3500rpm, but it's not horrible, probably very much of par with other high-revving dohc engines.

Great looking car - the red script on the side really accents the car. I'm new to American also; last 5 cars from Modena and Sant'Agata Bolognese. So for 4,400 flawless miles and she makes me smile every time I drive her

Great looking car I am not usually a fan of black but I love how the red offsets it both in and out.

I have found track steering too stiff. I was hope ing steering would get quicker not stiffer going up the settings

Thank you. My build did have the LPO badge in the rear (red) but I felt that the Corvette script would look best in black but I have the badges if I ever want to install them.

Agree-- its a bit restrictive in regards to bigger turns. I actually like Tour and Sport better.

So tempted to just let her rip (oil and tranny temps are optimal)

Full disclosure, I went and test drove this prior to buying the Z06 (no test drive on the Corvette- took a flyer) and the GT63 while a looker just didnt do it for me .. enough. It has a nice exhaust note (mopar style) and I do like the M177 engine but Im so much better off with the Z06 and I spent less cash

Thats funny, in 2020, I was on the last run for a c8 from a dealer in Cali and was told I probably would not get one. I needed a sedan to take out clients so bought the AMG GT63S, thinking I would not get the c8 (no not for taking out clients), and low and behold, I got allocated, ordered and delivered. Love the AMG, and the vette. I got rid of an M4 once I was allocated the vette, and sorry I did. Loved that car too!
Can't wait to get the z06. Cheers!

My first though in reading the original post is how much money Americans spend on vehicles. If l was going to do it all over again, l would spend less.

Irony

Back in 2020 I test drove the GT63S (sedan style coupe) for a weekend and just couldnt make the call on it vs getting an M8 Comp Gran Coupe. The M just felt better with its chassis/damper set up while the GT63S was a rock on the road with an amazing grunt coming from that M177 engine. The S63tu engine that M has been using is dated but still fairly venerable and the sound isnt all too bad with its tonal duality. I ended up bumping the M8 GC and then getting a Coupe- great rides for sure but not as aggressive as the newer S58 engine in the G8X M cars which begs to be raped. I am on my 3rd G80

So a few questions after about 3 weeks of ownership:

1. Is there a way to turn on the front camera via a proximity warning like I have in my R8, 992 GTS, M3, etc? I hate that I have to push the camera button. I probably didnt read the manual deep enough
2. Does the memory seat sometime forget to fully return to the door shut position for you all? Half the time when I get in and shut the door it fully returns to my memory 1/2 setting and other times it doesnt.
3. These extended winglets- I dont have them and they werent in my trunk- did 24's lose these?

Im gonna have even more questions as I have learned so much more here than via that book they call the manual Plus you guys are all cool and Im far sighted so I have to use the digital one.
