I've used the Meguiar's M205 by hand with good results.

Unless a very VERY small spot, you won't get the results doing it by hand with any product that I've seen yet.

If you are going to use the product by hand, then I'd recommend using M105. I've used 105 by hand with good results in removing scratches.

I'd definitely recommend a good DA polisher for the best results.

Having done more than 300 corvettes, I can tell you that for a 1 step correction it doesn't get better than Menzerna SIP as it cuts well on the hard clear and finishes down OEM quality. For more fine polishing, Menzerna 106FA is the same way with good cutting ability for a finishing polish that leaves an amazing gloss. If you're looking for a full paint correction process, hit it with M105 first, then the other two in that order.
