I recently purchased a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport convertible (with black canvas top). The car was put in service in May of 2018. I am curious as to opinions related to cleaning, care, and protection of the canvas top. Should the factory sealant on the top last a year or more? What are your suggestions related to how often I should clean the top and apply some type of sealant? Also, do you have any suggestions on product to use for cleaning and sealing of the canvas top? Looking online, I ran across Ragg Topp product. Any feedback on this product (see below photo)?
I dont know much about the factory sealant. Right now I primarily just wash with soap and water, scrub it if its dirty. In between washing or if there is a stain, I will use the Raggtop. I don't necessarily wash the top as often as I wash the rest of the car either. and I wash once a week or maybe every other. Once a month treatment with Raggtop seems sufficient.
Washing doesn't always bring a brownish top back to black, so then use the Raggtop cleaner. Their protectant spray on about once a month as well.
Vacuum often!
Ragtop is the winner.
Car wash soap...is okay to use every time you wash.
Cleaner...hard to say, every season change perhaps and of course for spot cleaning bird poop or other debris.
Sealant ...yearly, IMO the sealant last a year.
And again vacuum often.
I have a canvas top on my C1. The material is Haartz Stayfast, sewn by Robbins Top in Ventura, CA.
The instructions recommended the 303 aerospace products (cleaner and protectant).
They recommend re-applying the protectant annually.
It's white, so I'm very cautious.. So far, so good.
303 Convertible Top Cleaner when needed, and an annual 303 Fabric Guard treatment is working well for me. I actually believe that I could easily stretch the Fabric Guard treatments to every other year.
I have used both RaggTopp and 303 products on my C5 and C6 verts. My experience is that the 303 product beads water off the top longer and therefore keeps the top dry longer. This leads me to believe it will keep the top in better shape longer; I certainly may be wrong, but I intend to continue using the 303 product.
