Default What ET to expect with new engine?

Hello,
85 Vette here. I´m in the process of replacing the engine with a Smeding 406 eliminator. 520 hp 510 tq.
The Vette sports the 4+3 DNE, a Dana 44 with 3.07 gears.
At the drag strip I will remove spare tire, passenger seat, no ac, fuel tank at 50%.
Front runners and Hoosiers QTP in the rear. What quarter mile times are realistic?

Not too easy to get the stock hood shut

What would you calculate?
Thanks!

Erik

Taking a wild guess mid to low 12's.

Hmm, I would love to see at least high elevens.
With the same setup, the stock L98 and a 175 shot of nitrous I went 12.219 in the quarter mile.

It’s just a guess. You know the car better than we do. 11’s is not hard to believe.

Well, it´s been a while...
The new engine presented clutch and transmission problems.
Now I´m sporting a balanced SPEC stage 3+ clutch and flywheel and a Tremec TKX 5-speed.
Last weekend I run a 11.913 in the quarter mile on a non prepped track near Berlin/ Germany.
I´m happy at the moment.
The engine is build for a 200 shot of nitrous. Will try that next spring. Stay tuned....

Sorry for the huge pic....

The Spec 3+ is waay too much clutch for 500ftlbs. Still too much clutch even after you add a 200 shot. Add that to the fact that you are running on an un-prep'd airport, I suspect your ET could greatly benefit from installing a ClutchTamer. Likely shave an easy .5sec off your current et just from managing the hit of that clutch.

Way to go! However removing the spare may be detrimental as it will reduce weight on the rear wheels.

Thanks Grant! Never heard of it, but I will check this out.

Thanks Larrywalk, we removed the air condition, for racing there is no passenger seat, no spare tire,

no speakers in the car and so on. Tank 30 till 50%.
BTW I deleted 10 kilogramm from my belly.

Nice setup. Good luck with the 4+3 and Dana 44. I had the same setup and replaced with an auto due to parts breakage and lack of consistency.
