The feature you describe in the latter part of your message is already built into the software and is a standard feature, not something specific to Tapatalk.

You click on icon next to the thread title and your browser will take you to the first unread post. You will also see an icon in the upper left corner of the post - once you're taken to the new post - to show you that's an unread message.
